hi guys,

i previously posted an issue with my pc, http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/hardware-clinic-2/gta-v-monitor-suddenly-switches-off-pc-went-into-restart-loop-5064167.html

pc specs are on the right>> fast forward to now, i havent been playing any games already, not even gta v. uninstalled it already. since then, i haven't face any sudden black screen issue. i've been consistently monitoring my gpu temp via hwmonitor, and i notice my temp runs randomly to 50deg max, sometimes when im not watching video too. i personally think it's fine and still acceptable, so didnt pay much attention to it.

but just now, im not sure why it happened like that, but my friend pasted me an hotels.com link on fb; i clicked it, chrome loads it, suddenly my pc hangs (but i still can hear the fb msg sound in the background), after that monitor went black, no signal. link is legit btw! i was surfing around quite a bit as well. Had to force restart it. And not sure if it's linked, but after the force restart, from the Windows welcome screen, it now takes about like 3-5s more before it boots into desktop..

was just wondering if anyone faced this issue before. im not sure if it's a psu or gpu issue, because it suddenly happened, didnt happen for like a month or so. now everything seems ok. my rig is about like 3 years old now. no overclocking on gpu. never tried reseating ram/switching cable to motherboard though because im afraid i'll end up creating a bigger problem :s22:

and one last thing! assuming i decide to change psu/gpu, is it just a plug-and-play thing?

thanks all! :):)

hmm, the reason why i didnt try that yet is because the problem is not consistent. like i said, nothing happened for like a month or so, then suddenly it happened again. so even if i borrow gpu/psu from friend, everything might seem ok at that point of time, when it's not..?

was just wondering if the problem can be isolated to either the gpu or psu. i hope it's the gpu because replacing psu is gonna be so much more troublesome...

hey guys, if i decide to get a new gpu, what would be the bang for buck gpu to go, apart from gtx970? my usage are just simple web browsing, youtube, office work and watching shows. only have single monitor, and very minimal gaming.

If you don't game, why do you even need a discrete GPU, let alone a 970?
