PSU or Mobo failure?

tried turning on the PC but it shuts right off just after i pressed the power button. thought PSU failure but then turns on normally when i short the 20pin power connector.

both more than 5 years old.

Can still be PSU failure.

More likely is mobo or something else shorted, prevent PSU from power up.
Use min modules of cpu/mobo/ram to power up while disconnect the rest. If power on stay, power off and slow connect back one by one to test.

Have same problem before in the past. Though that PSU problem but end up is mobo die. Change a mobo and problem solve. Try start with just mobo CPU and PSU no others. See if fan can run and stay on. If cannot likely mobo die.

l took out everything only left cpu, 24pin and pump and it still wont boot up. i even removed the mobo out of the casing to test out. same thing..

end up motherboard failure. noticed 2 of the caps has sort of peeled off??? maybe that was the reason why it leaked current and caused the PSU shut off.

Mobo spoil liao.
Unless you skilled enough to replace capacitor yourself.
Now you have to decide either buy another 1155 mobo or sell your CPU and upgrade.
