PSU or MOBO faulty?

PC refused to turn on. Power lights not turning on. However USB peripherals such as keyboard are lighted up.

Steps I have tried that didn't work/help:

• Removing 1 Ram
  
• Changing Ram to diff slots (1/3 to 2/4)
  
• Removing GPU (my mobo has its own internal card)
  
• Disconnecting everything except MOBO and PSU

• PSU test by the "safety pin" method to bridge green/black wire of 24pin connector.
  
• Manually press the On/Off switch @ the back of the PSU, about 3-4 times before PSU fan will spin
  
• After the above, PSU fan spins for about ~30 secs then stops
  
• Turn power off, connect stuff back 1 by 1 and repeat.

In the end, I assembled everything back into my PC. I then tried the On/Off PSU switch several times, and PC boots as per normal. Everything works.

Reset Button works. However the moment i shutdown Windows or shutdown the main power switch, PC refuses to power back on again.

Basically if i cut power, i have to manually trigger the On/Off button @ back of the PSU, several times, to get everything working again. Is my PSU faulty? or maybe the MOBO?

Higher chance it's PSU.
When the pc refuse to boot, let it rest for maybe 10-20mins, if its able to boot again. It's psu

Sounds like your PSU unable to provide the required power or at least unstable power delivery.

A bit dumb but possible.. Have you tried plugging the power plug to a different socket? Ever happened to me that one of the sockets was faulty (contact issue) and switching it solved the problem

Highly likely is the PSU, it may fry the MB too if tried too many times to jump start because of the irregular voltage spikes.

Change a PSU about $200, change MB + Processor will be much more costly.

How many devices do you have connected internally? If you have multiple drives can you disconnect them with the exception of the OS drive and see if your able to replicate the issue.

$200 so ex? my current one is 650w from 2012 (PC is from 2012 lols)

can i buy a cheap replacement first (>=650w) around $50-$80? saw a few online i think.

Just need my old PC to last for 2.5 months until i can buy new PC.

oh haha around $200 can get you a good PSU that will last you for more than 5years with 10years of warranty

well personal choice if you choose to get a cheap replacement for the short term, you can yup $80 but you can’t expect the same you know
