PSU or RAM or MOTHERBOARD problem?

Hi all experienced please help.

There is a problem with my PC and i suspect it's my 500w psu.
Cos when I switched it on, it was less than a second switched on as fan were moving but later suddenly off and can't be switched on.

I took out the main plug then plugged back and switched my PC on again, still happen the same. So I think it's psu failure.

I wouldn't be posting here if I have extra psu, ram or whatever as I only have extra keyboard and mouse.

Can anyone pro tell me whether it's my psu problem?
It's been 4 years since bought.

Is it advisable to buy new 650w psu and rams??

I don't really play much games. Just surfing and watching movies. Sometimes I leave my PC on from Saturday night to Sunday night. So probably PSU problem?
Advisable to buy new one or second handed?

Take out the PSU and do a jump start aka Paperclip Test.

By doing so you can check whether is your PSU faulty.

Search in youtube for a Paperclip test.

If it works means somewhere in your board is shorted.

Gonna test it tonight. Hopefully it's PSU failure.

Hey all I just did paper clip test on my psu and sadly it doesn't work!
My psu is Aerocool 500W E80-50.
It stated two years warranty and I bought on 2010.
Thanks about the paper clip test and now I know it's 100% psu failure.

Alright. No problem. Just buy and upgrade any reputable brands like Superflower HX/Golden green/golden king/Leadex series, Seasonic X/M12/G12 series, Corsair TX/HX/AX/RM series, FSP raider/hexa/aurum series.

RMA the current one and probably just keep it as spare PSU.

Can't RMA already as it passed over two years.
Gonna buy Corsair HX1000W since I heard from reviews that must invest/spend more on PSU.

I also had the Aerocool E80-500 500W PSU. Bought in Jan 2011. It also died after 2 years 10 months, just a few months after the warranty ended. Maybe from the same batch?

I bought it from someone else. Not from SLS. But the date I bought around the same period, so I was just guessing if they all came from the same batch since same brand and model.

For my case, it was working fine as usual one day. Then I shutdown the PC for dinner. After dinner about 1 or 2 hours later, I kept pressing the power button and could no longer turn it on. It died a silent death and passed away peacefully in its sleep.

You dont need to start a 1000w psu. Just any reputable brands 500w-600w will do fine.

Hmm but i think i will go for 1000w as i'm going to buy more rams and hdds. Going to upgrade since i haven't in 3 years back. But thanks for all your help guys =)

1000w is more for triple sli/xfire... more rams or hdd dun even eat much power at all. Spend $300 but only use $100 worth of power.

All you need is a reputable brand, and not more wattage.

I'm getting 2nd hand of Corsair HX1000W at $120.
No warranty though. Seller used more than 5 years and i thought the price was worth it.

Used for 5 yrs liao? I can bet you will face problems in the long run. That psu already reaching the limit of its lifespan le...

With $120, can get superflower HX600w. More suitable for your needs.

If your setup needs 1000w psu, then those with triple sli and watercooling need like 3000w psu? Bo kor Leng mah...

Guess i'm a outdated haha.
Got it, gonna buy Superflower HX750w instead tomorrow.
Googled and it was really nice casing/blue leds.
