For the free power plug that usually comes with the PSU when you purchase , what is the Ampere rating ?

Is it 5A or 10A or 13A ?

Varies, can be no fuse, 5,10 & 13A.
My company HP laptop power cable is rated 2.5A only.

If a 550W PSU comes with a 5A power plug and I change it to a 13A power plug...will there be any warranty problem ?

Due to the new original power plug length too short....and the old PSU power plug is rated at 13A and with enough length to the wall socket.

if your PSU go crazy... it keeps drawing current

when exceed 5A... the fuse blow... electricity cut off

so 13A... means must wait until it hits 13A... then electricity cut off, maybe the damage so huge... yr home already on fire liao (super worst case scenario)

usually psu also have a fuse inside

so doesn't matter lah... for cable

Although impossible, but if the PSU exceeds 5A and the plug isnt fused, wouldnt it start melting

Why would 13a fuse be a major concern when our A/C power source are rated at 13a and 15a for high power appliances?

In the worst case scenario, the 5a fuse inside the PSU blow if the PSU went haywire. Don't confused the 5a fuse inside the PSU with the 5a (13a in TS's case) fuse in the 3 pins plug.

Although impossible, but if the PSU exceeds 5A and the plug isnt fused, wouldnt it start melting

For appliances with built-in fuse, it's not required to use fused power cable according to SG regulation. Having say that, no harm using 5a fused power cable as double protection against over current scenario. Most if not all home users PSUs are using 5a built-in fuse, unlikely to overload the 1150watts limit unless he/she connect a hair dryer, vacuum cleaner or iron parallel with the PSU. :)

If u are really worried, u can take out the 5A fuse from the shorter power cable and put it into the longer power cable.
