Gold is a measure of efficiency, not necessarily quality. Titanium is currently the highest efficiency rating, followed by Platinum then gold.

I don't think 500W is enough if he is going to over clock since TS is using the z motherboard and k processor

OC3D did a test even at load an OC-ed 4670k + 780 Ti draws only around 384w

500w is very safe
