State the parts of the rig that this PSU is going into. Also, cannot judge PSU by brand, must read PSU reviews of that particular PSU model/series from PSU reviewers using proper testing methodology to judge the quality of the PSU.

Do you mind non-modular PSUs? They are cheaper than modular PSUs for the amount of wattage that you are getting.

Would prefer modular due to Better Cable Management and look much neater inside

Superflower Leadex 650W, $139. Relatively cheap modular 80+ Gold PSU with voltage and ripple regulation on par with top end PSUs.

Got a Superflower HX600w PSU from Lazada's 12/12 discount last month as I heard many good reviews from fellow forumers here and price is reasonably good but apparently there had been an issue with that batch which causes the PSU to have coil whine even when PC is on idle.

Went down to distro for RMA and I saw the tech guy troubleshooting another HX600w apparently for the same coil whine issue. I told him about the coil whine on my unit and he straight away asked if I got it from Lazada and he also confirmed it's only that batch of HX600w that has this problem.

I ended up topping up some cash to get a Superflower Leadex Gold 750w as all the other 600w & 650w models were out of stock and so far so good, no issues with the Leadex model.

1) Seasonic X-series & Corsair Rm series not good?

2) Superflower, where is it service centre?

1) Can't comment on these 2 brands as I've never owned any of them before but you can check out their reviews online at jonnyguru.com.
Superflower is also the OEM PSU maker for NZXT, Rosewill and EVGA but not sure if there're anymore other brands.

2) The distributor is Tech Dynamic, located at Chai Chee Lane.

Aren't Seasonic probably the most high-end OEM manufacturer? Does that mean their own branded power is even better?

Nope. There are some OEMs like Flextronics and Delta that specialises in server grade PSUs and their consumer grade PSUs are also on par with Seasonic as well.

I think it's all based on users' experience and online reviews. I used to own a Coolermaster PSU and it lasted me for 6 years without any issues before deciding to get a new PSU as replacement since any PSU above 5 years may deemed to have a higher risk of failure. Don't want to risk having my PSU fail and fry my other components.

Thermaltake Toughpower Gold/Grand/DPS for you, sir?

Though admittingly, they have so many different revisions of PSUs using the same name that it can be tricky knowing which Toughpower Gold/Grand you are buying. Also didn't help that they like to change OEMs as well, so you have to look at the UL number to know if the PSU is made by Enhance, CWT, FSP or Sirtec. :s22:

These 3 what the diff?

S12G is non modular, iirc.

G series is semi modular, only the 24, 8, gpu pins are fixed. The rest are modular.

X series is fully modular.

I believe all are 80+ gold, iirc. At most, S series is 80+ bronze.
