Hi all,

I am currently studying in SIM for Diploma and it’s gonna end in June.
I am looking to pursue Psychology degree(Full time) and then complete masters. I have applied for UB - Psych but I’m afraid I can’t get in. My current GPA for diploma is 1.9, hope to pull up to 2.0 by this semester. I need recommendations of what other university I can apply for Psychology or Social work degree.

JCU is not an option for me as I have consulted them they do not accept SIM diploma so I’ll be required to do about 1+ - 2 years of diploma before doing their degree.

Please help me out. Thank you !

Right . I have just applied for it . But my seniors told me they don’t accept? I’m confused . I looked at their admission but no mention of private diploma.

This is what it says:
Applicants with a Diploma from ITE, or other Diploma qualifications plus an acceptable SAT or ACT (with Writing) score1 may be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis;

https://www.suss.edu.sg/part-time-undergraduate/admissions/eligibility

Private diploma would be considered "other Diploma qualifications"

Probably private ones like SIM, Kaplan, MDIS and such.

In Singapore, only 2 universities offer social work which are NUS and SUSS.

As SUSS is now an autonomous university, it would be very unlikely for you to get in with an SIM diploma.

Technically, they may say they will consider but let's be realistic, your current diploma GPA isn't good right now. SUSS are going to get applicants who range from A level grads to poly diplomas and such.

It's not easy to enter and SUSS are moving further away from SIM to distinguish themselves as their own brand. The standards are only going to increase more and more and unfortunately, from what you have told us, you fall far below it right now.

What is the GPA 1.9 over? If the GPA is so lousy, how to advance to the Bachelor and Master programs?

If it's 1.9 over 3, then it's not that bad. But if it's over 4 or 5, start looking for something else to study. Psychology is not likely suitable for you.
