hey stephy what's the diff between a degree from uni sim and one from rmit

and if let's say we're going to work in a NMC does it matters alot?

i am interested in psychology too but i do not know what ish the career prospect

Frankly speaking, I did not check out the modules at all, but I did applied for UniSIM and PSB during that time, am not aware that RMIT also offer Psyc. After attend the preview talk by PSB, which is not impressive at all, I decided to join UniSIM instead (of coz the sch fee also another issue, the fee different is lk almost 10k). But as far as I understand, UniSIM psyc belongs to the Art & Social Scs School while PSB psyc belongs to the Science grp, together with BioTech, BioMed etc. I not too sure wat is the different btw an Arts Psyc degree and Sci Psyc degree, maybe the approach is different?

I went to UniSIM is solely because I just need a Psyc degree, thats all, does not really matter wat modules and which sch its frm. So I choose the cheapest and nearest to my hse - which is UniSIM.

For career prospects, majority of my classmates are teachers, some social workers. But for myself, Im doing HRD in public sector. If you would like to join MNC, wat kind of post u r looking at? Psychologist?

Psyc is very interesting, but alot of reading and writing to do...abit tedious, especially for working adult

i won't suggest anyone to do psychology part-time

tons and tons of readings

if really want to be a psychologist, would suggest taking the JCU course or the CQU (offered by Hartford)

CQU by hartford have to check if it's still being offered

these are the only 2 programs in SG accredited by APS

to be a psychologist, best is to study up to Masters and/or Phd

its kind of a 50/50 thingy, like 50% assignments and 50% exam. Arghh, im rushing my assignment 2 now

Psychology in UniSim & OU UK

There is a great difference between the programme offering in UniSim and OU UK.

There indicated that a BSC (Psychology) consists of 320 credit units and with Honours degree it is 360 credit units.

As for UniSim;
Total credit units = 120
with honours is = 160

The above is important for those who wish to cont. their advance degree.

It was known that UniSim BSC Psychology graduates require 5 bridging subjects at JCU Bachelor degree and score GPA =5 prior proceeding to PGDip Psychology, GPA=6 for entry to honours degree.

Non UniSim BSC Hon graduates has never been successful into JCU Honours or Master of Psychology in Singapore.

A few days to apply into Oct in-take 2007 for JCU.

To be a psychologist in Singapore, U need at least a good honours. Some employers will employ you, but U will not be allowed to do full-fledged psychology work such as IQ testing, diagnostic work etc. You are only a Psychologist by vocation.

To be a so-called practicing Psychologist, you need minimum masters and clock around 100-200 supervision hours.

Arts and Science has a minor difference in approach. PSB's programme is not yet accredited, and yes, very science, meaning more technological and logical.

Arts is more exploratory, more arguments and debates etc.

Stephy didn't mention properly. Psychology in UniSIM is Bsc Psychology - Bachelor of science in Psychology. However the syllabus is pretty much arts, not much diff, except the name.

Anyway knows of the James Cook Psychology programme? I'm in UniSIM, dying...Thinking of transferring my credits to JCU, get advanced standing for my previous dip and complete 1 year earlier.
