I am afraid the poster misintepreted the point allocation. There are some modules offered by UniSIM which are inherited from OUUK but the credit allocation is different.

UniSIM usually allocate modules which take up a semester to be worth 10 credits. For example Exploring psychology (DSE212) in OUUK is worth 60 credits and is a year long course. In UniSIM, this module with exactly the same content is split into part 1 and part 2 (DSZS2121 and DSZS2122) with a total credit worth of 20 credits.

Therefore, it doesn't mean that 320 compared to 120 credits points mean that you study more for the OUUK degree compared to the UniSIM degree and is therefore better etc.

In fact, it is more important to look at the modules which are offered and the content structure.

There is a great difference between the programme offering in UniSim and OU UK.

There indicated that a BSC (Psychology) consists of 320 credit units and with Honours degree it is 360 credit units.

As for UniSim;
Total credit units = 120
with honours is = 160

The above is important for those who wish to cont. their advance degree.

It was known that UniSim BSC Psychology graduates require 5 bridging subjects at JCU Bachelor degree and score GPA =5 prior proceeding to PGDip Psychology, GPA=6 for entry to honours degree.

Non UniSim BSC Hon graduates has never been successful into JCU Honours or Master of Psychology in Singapore.

A few days to apply into Oct in-take 2007 for JCU.

Hmmm how about the degree offered by PATH ?

Anyone knows much abuot this degree?

U might be interested to know that for a psy degree, both JCU and SIM costs like 53k but for PATH it costs 35k. Anyone knows why a psy degree costs so much or its normal?

Anyone in any sch taking up a psy degree now?

Able to post your comments about the sch, degree, etc ?

There is a psychology course offered by PATH edu @ beach road. Anyone has any comments about that degree?? the modules offered look pretty good.

JCU's psychology courses are accredicted by Australian Psychological Socierty. I don't think the rest have any accredictions. There's another one by Monash at TMC which is also accredicted but i heard support for the course may end on 2010.

Ic... so meaning its better to have a sch which is accredicted than PATH which is nt accredicted even though its by university of wales....?

I heard JCU dropout rate is high n the courses r demanding....

PSB Academy, who is offering UWA's BSc Psychology is also accredited by APS.

The APS accediction for UWA is only for australian campus. It is not yet accredicted for studying in Singapore.

The Bachelor of Science (Psychology) as taught at the University of Western Australia leads to the completion of a double major in psychology. This degree is accredited by the Australian Psychological Society and is the minimum entry requirement for the fourth year Bachelor of Psychology and BSc Honours in Psychology degrees. The accreditation of the Bachelor of Science (Psychology) taught in Singapore is currently under review.

Accredicted psychology degrees are important for working and registering as a psychology and post-graduate studies. Australian universities mainly accept only accredicted degrees for entry in their post-grad in psychology.

If you are not planning to become a psychologist or going for post-grad studies, most other employers don't give a damn.

And the demand for psychologists in singapore is frankly not great.

i find psychology books very interesting to read as well. But,my writing sucks. I better dont do it in uni.
In my leisure time,i always read psychology books. It's interesting and applicable.

I'm very interested in psychology too, but not sure where. Cost is a big problem for me, in fact I stagger at the idea of UniSIM, the rest are crazy.

I'm not sure if I want to be a full psychologist, might go into teaching and guidance counselling. :\

I thought SIM is more ex? It's 50k and above? SMa, James Cook prices are lower. I took SMa for only 19k. 1.6k per module.

Ohhh.. yup like what he said, UniSIM and Uni of Buffalo is big diff in price!

I only have a diploma from MDIS though. Not sure where I can get in to do the bachelor's degree. :\
