Many individuals on Douyin don't open their Apple Wallet; instead, they simply scan their phones at the gantry. Is this practice possible in Singapore?

I like this better than open apple wallet
Yea I don’t think anyone will disagree. but not available yet no choice.

also is not so much about opening but authenticating.

you can just double press on/off button the app will auto be brought up and authenticate

Yes. But not avail in SG yet..
actually with our transport system using credit/debit card for payment now, i have low hopes that LTA will want to spend the time and resources into making apple wallet express transit happen for sg.

if you look at the list of express transit card options in apple wallet, they are only for countries where majority of their citizens are still using some sort of stored-value cards for their transport system like octopus(hk), suica/pasmo(japan), etc. and these 2 examples work partly because they are both using feliCa technology.

1st gen ezlink cards were using feliCa technology as well, but 2nd gen onwards were all changed to CEPAS instead. and eventually the addition of contactless credit/debit via NFC. if SG had kept the feliCa technology for our ezlink cards, i think we would have express transit option by now, but CEPAS is currently only used by SG only.
