Pure gaming cpu

I game at 1440p 60hz, with a GTX1080. All I care about is my games run stable above 60fps. That extra few frames that Intel has over amd can sometimes help push it over 60fps in some games.

I don't need future proofing. I just need a cpu to last as long as my current one did.

Anyway, I got a friend who upgrade to ryzen 2600x with a 1070ti. He has no problem doing 60fps in his games. In fact he didn't cap off his fps to 60 and let it just run into the 100s. I couldn't convince him to go 144hz or explained all those extras fps are pretty useless because he couldn't handle a 27inch 144hz monitor.

My point is : you don't need a highend cpu to do 60hz. But if u got the cash to burn and doesn't care maximise your pc potential, u do u.

My i7 4770 with GTX1070 can max setting at 1440P 60FPS for overwatch.

i play totalwar 3K at 60-65hz 1440p on a 2060. CPU? i5-4670k @4.5ghz. Anything that is set to Ultra @1440p is GPU bound. CPU only helps in turn times which is negligible in that game. Warhammer 2 on the other hand..

Wait, are we on the same page on future proofing?
You say the x570 is future proof. That to me means that the next gen Ryzen will be supported and can be switched out next year or so, which I don't want to do. Or the pcie gen4 will be put to use next few years which I doubt so.

As it stands right now, Intel is ahead in gaming only. That's what I'm looking for. Maybe Ryzen 4000 series will be on par/slightly ahead next year. So when it comes to gaming, Ryzen is 1 gen behind. That to me is future proof in terms of gaming performance.

Someone above said the current games are optimised for Intel. If you said the next generation of games are going to be optimised for Ryzen then you have a point.

if idiots want to pay double for half the cpu performance and 5% more gaming performance then let them be. Don't need to argue one, 3000 is still in early phase and might have more optimizations in future, nobody knows.

Also, newer game engines are of design to utilize more cores.. since intel has been dominating all along its only normal that the softwares are still intel biased it will take time for developer to optimize for ryzen. how long it will take nobody know so what i can suggest is buy something worth your money and don't worry about that 5% gain is nothing.

Afterall, 3000 series IPC is very good and comparable to intel.. so that means is all about optimizations now.

As I've said, I'm not just looking for a cpu. I'm looking at the respective boards too. As of right now, the X570 boards are more expensive than the Z390 boards. So if you add them together, their prices are pretty similar.
Also, the X570 board I'm interested in is not available locally, that means newegg or Amazon. Add in shipping costs, the Ryzen setup is gonna be more expensive.
So I'm here looking at a Ryzen setup that is not only more expensive, but also loses in gaming performance to a cheaper Intel setup.
Tell me I'm not crazy about seriously considering Intel.
