Went to deposit cash at atm machine at 10.48. Besides my own transaction receipt, I decided to pick up all transaction receipts left behind from someone with account no. 126-xxxxx-7.

Luckily was not behind this person who hogged the machine for more than half hour :s13:

The transaction receipts showed the following -

8.57 $50 x 1 = $2444.60
8.59 $10 x 3 = $2474.60
9.01 $5 x 2 and $10 x 1 = $2494.60
9.02 $10 x 4 = $2534.60
9.04 $5 x 4 = $ 2554.60
9.05 $5 x 4 = $ 2576.60
9.07 $5 x 3 = $ 2589.60
9.09 $2 x 3 = $ 2595.60
9.10 $2 x 3 = $ 2601.60
9.12 $2 x 3 = $ 2607.60
9.13 $2 x 3 = $ 2613.60
9.15 $2 x 3 = $ 2619.60
9.16 $2 x 3 = $ 2625.60
9.17 $2 x 3 = $ 2631.60
9.20 $2 x 3 = $ 2643.60
9.22 $2 x 3 = $ 2469.60
9.23 $2 x 3 = $ 2655.60
9.27 $2 x 3 = $ 2661.60
9.28 $2 x 3 = $ 2667.60
9.30 $2 x 3 = $ 2673.60
9.31 $2 x 3 = $ 2679.60

Can anyone explain such behavior :s22:

maybe he is paranoid that if he put in too much $$$ at one go, in case of any mistake by the machine, all his $$$ will be kena eaten up.. so he deposit $6 at a time or few notes at a time, if got any thing wrong, at most lose $6 only

I'll toss in another guess: he/she received multiple cash payments for particular transactions, and he/she prefers to log each cash transaction as a separate line item directly on his/her bank statement in order to maintain another paper trail. However, that doesn't really explain why this person left the ATM receipts behind, a behavior that's inconsistent with my explanation.

Another possibility is money laundering of the ultra small scale variety.

Yet another possibility is mental illness, such as OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder).

Returning to my first guess, it's possible he/she was acting as a popup amateur bank teller for some community of individuals who, for example, needed to top up their mobile phone SIM cards and who perhaps cannot read or at least cannot understand how to top up SIM cards on their own. A team of two people (probably) set up camp near an ATM, maybe even with a table, they accepted cash for the top ups, and they made the top ups with the carrier(s). Instead of keeping separate written records they'd just look at a bank statement to make sure the cash matched the top ups, as I described above. Maybe this'd be for a construction crew organized as a SIM top up club of some sort.
