Qatar airways checked in baggage allowance

Hi everyone!

I'm taking Qatar soon and was wondering if the checked in baggage allowance has been increased to 30kg as seen on the webpage here. can anyone confirm?

reason being, the description on my online check in page still says 23kg in the fine print.

Lol, on the link you gave, look at the banner. It says "was 23kg, now 30kg".

Hi. I am wondering too cos I am considering taking Qatar to NYC.

But this "increase" was only recently (1 Sep 2013) implemented. So maybe they did not update your fine print. Then again it could be still 23kg due to the class of fare you bought.

In any case it is best to contact the Qatar CSOs. Do update here if you know anything new.

Funny thing is, under the table in the website, it says Economy class passengers can carry "2 pieces, each not to exceed 23kg (50lb) and a maximum dimension of 158cm (62in)".

Does this mean 46kg max? Haha.

haha yes, that's what i saw so i was confused whether or not i get to enjoy that increase, since it differs from the fine print on my booking receipt, which i made a while back

yup i'll probably contact them. will update accordingly.

USA has different baggage rules.
they go by piece concept. either 23 or 32kg ( max 1 piece) or something like that

No, it dont go like that. If the allowance is 30kg, than that is the max. If one luggage is 23kg, the other will be max 7kg. But sometimes they may give 5kg extra and some times not.

anw i checked and was told that the new baggage allowance applies, even for tickets booked before 1 sept.

if you bought a return ticket and already flew the first leg, you get to enjoy increased allowance for the return leg as long as it is after 1 sept
