Have problems installing Win 8.1 on Boot Camp and contacted Apple. Their staff tried helping via online chat several times but now have said they've exhausted everything and asked me to bring in for hands on.

The nearest to my house is QCD Wheelock and A.Lab at Plaza Sing. Anyone know which place is better? Have read some horror stories here about some of these 3rd parties.

Maybe you could share the issue here, and see if we can help? Might be more convenient for you.

If you bring in to a.lab or QCD, there will be a software installation charge.

Unless Apple have granted an exception and uploaded in the system, AASP will have to charge the customer. If they don't, who's paying them since they cannot claim from Apple.

With that said, you can only confirm there is an exception granted if you are speaking with a Senior AppleCare Advisor.
