This thread is good.

Hopefully more data will be available to answer the questions raised in the other thread.

Thank you for the reply! Understand that eight is owned by Starhub and using Starhub network, however does the network coverage and quality is the same with Starhub? If yes, then I can try this

That is a good question.

I tend to think Eight 5G and Starhub Prepaid 5G have the same priority (lowest among Starhub 5G networks), lower than the new Starhub 5G Lite plan and other Starhub 5G Unlimited+ plans.

Starhub 5G Platinum plans >
Starhub 5G Unlimited+ plans >
Starhub 5G Lite plan >
giga 5G, CUniq 5G, Starhub Prepaid 5G, Eight 5G and MyRepublic 5G (??)

Take note redONE has no 5G offerings as of now.

Need to see if someone can find the QCI values for the above plans.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/qci-values-thread.6936478/

My guess on the Singtel side.

Singtel 5G + Priority >
Singtel 5G+ Enhanced >
Sintgel 5G+ (eg: Singtel S$15 SIM Only plan) >
Singtel Gomo 5G, and Singtel MVNO 5G (Zero1, Zym, VIVIFI and CMLink) once they get 5G SA. (??) >
Singtel hi! Prepaid 5G

Take note Singtel heya has no 5G offerings and the users will be converted to Singtel hi! 4G plans.

Again, need to see if someone can find the QCI values for the above plans.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/qci-values-thread.6936478/

My guess on the M1 side.

M1 Bespoke 5G >
Circles.Life 5G (??)>
M1 Maxx 5G >
M1 Prepaid 5G

Take note MyRepublic only uses M1 for its 4G plan.

Again, need to see if someone can find the QCI values for the above plans.

Updated with 3 new plans, the MyRepublic R 5G plan available from their new RewardLand app, StarHub's cheapest new 5G Unlimited+ plan and M1's 1024GB SIM-only plan. Some thoughts from my own testing of each plan are that despite M1s SIM-only plan looking worse on paper than the Maxx plan, user experience was much more consistent and less susceptible to poor performance during crowded periods, suggesting less aggressive QoS despite the same QCI value. Same goes with the MyRepublic R plan, despite appearing to have the same QCI value as the StarHub native plan, I seem to experience much more throttling on the MyRepublic plan, not just compared to the native plan, but even compared to the previous plans I had on MyRepublic. Not a fan of StarHub's lack of transparency regarding any fair use policy of their Unlimited plans, their website used to say 102400GB when adding the plans to cart, but that has since been removed, and no FAQ or T&C provides a clear cut answer regarding if any limit applies, and what throttled speeds will be once that limit is hit.

You almost single-handedly destroyed the meaning/point of this QCI thread with your statement. :D

I've asked starhub on the FUP for unlimited plans and the unlimited roaming ($188 plan) however they gave me a non answer.

[2/1, 9:40 PM] StarHub: As per checking, our Unlimited plans come with a Fair Usage Policy to ensure a fair and stable experience for all users. While we don’t disclose the specific threshold, we want to assure you that it is set at a level far above typical usage, so regular day-to-day use like streaming, social media, and browsing won’t be affected.
[2/1, 9:46 PM] StarHub: Thanks for waiting.

As per checking, the information I've shared above that applies to all unlimited plan for fair usage policy.

QCI only applies on the cellular network level, the telco can futher manage their network at the internet exchanges which explains the discrepancy between eight, MR and starhub.

Just noticed singtel's business mobile plans have adopted the same new branding of prioritisation (enhanced "2x" and priority "4x")

Since traditionally business mobile plans had a lower QCI compared to consumer plans, I'm curious if consumer enhanced and priority share the same QCI as business.

Also i find it to be a slight pity that the variance for priority subscription price seems to be pretty high (as low as $55/m to as high as $288/m). This makes me wonder there's a hidden extra priority (ie QCI 6) reserved for the top priced plans.

Updated list with 5G Slice information where available for Singtel due to their SA network utilising it to differentiate users. From what I understand SD stands for "Service differentiator" while SST denotes which slice of the network data is on. From what I've found, Singtel seemingly only changes the SD between plans for now.

SST refers to "Slice/Service Type while SD, despite being called Service differentiator, should be the ID focused on as it corresponds to the various slices within a SST subset.

The SST would be 1 for mobile subscribers unless a telco choses to use the 128-255 operator specific non standardised range.

https://www.sharetechnote.com/html/5G/5G_NetworkSlicing.html

Identification of Network Slice

The identification of a Network Slice is indicated by a NAS Information Element called S-NSSAI(Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information) as structured as below. S-NSSAI is made up of two field SST (Slice/Service Type) and SD (Service Differentiator). SD is an optional field. SST has 8 bit field length implying that it can indicates a total of 255 different slice types.

The SST field may have standardized and non-standardized values. Values 0 to 127 belong to the standardized SST

range. Values 128 to 255 belong to the Operator-specific range.

NOTE: 23.003-28.4.2 states 'The SD field has a reserved value "no SD value associated with the SST" defined as hexadecimal FFFFFF. In certain protocols, the SD field is not included to indicate that no SD value is associated with the SST'.

< 23.003 - Figure 28.4.2-1: Structure of S-NSSAI >

23_003_Figure_28_4_2_1.png

  • SST indicates Slice Service Type which is a mandatory item.
  • SD indicates a kind of slice ID within the SST which is an option item. This is used to indicates a specific slices in case where there are one or more slices are supported in the same SST.
The SST standardized in 3GPP as of now are as shown. Only 5 (as of 23.501 version 17.5.0) out of 127 possible types that can be configured by SST field.
