Guys,

I need a recommendation in building a simple DAS or a hard disk dock station.

Situation:
I have 4 extra 2.5" external hard disks ranging from 500gb to 1tb. Now problem is, I am not sure which version are my hard disks; bought them probably a couple of years back at least 5yrs back. They are Maxtors and Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex. The last time I played around with PCs and stuffs when there was EIDE..... Im sure there are newer versions later than the historic IDEs and EIDEs drives.

I want to dump them into a proper mini case or a dock station. I could simply get a usb hub with adapter but I don't like the idea of my hdd lying around without a proper enclosure.

I saw some ITX or mini ATX but I don't want to go into building another PC just for these hdds.

I'm so out of touch in all these, thus, you guys probably know of some ideas etc. you may suggest aligned to what I'm planning to do.

I already have a NAS so, please do not suggest me building another NAS. I need a DIY DAS that connects to my NAS USB port.

Budget: As cheap as possible

Thanks in advanced for all the suggestions, pointers, ideas, etc.

I don't have a pc; just laptop and macbook nothing else but for work use. I got these extra 2.5" drives after I got myself a Synology. I currently do a daisy chain of the current 4 extra hard disks hooked to my Synology USB ports but this setup hurts my eyes as I'm not fond of seeing cables lying on the table. So this thought of a dock station kicked in. I'm looking at Hotway and Probox mentioned by 2 members above. And yours aren't looking bad too. Just a quick question, the 4pcs of 2.5" should be a SATA? Can the Probox or Hotway and the ones you linked fit these 4 hard disks (after removing the original casings).

if not can consider getting from taobao?
4 slot enclosure $156 before shipping
4 way docking station $60 before shipping

the shipping max $20 i think[/QUOTE]
