[Qn] Time to replace macbook battery?

My macbook model is mid-2010 model (the last model released for macbook), and now the condition states:

Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 1132
Fully charged: No
Charging: Yes
Full charge capacity (mAh): 4287
Health Information:
Cycle count: 859
Condition: Check Battery


Should i go and change my battery now, and where can i buy it? I understand that changing the battery at apple cost 200+ and it excludes servicing charge (no more warranty). Any help is appreciated.

you can't just buy the battery and change it on your own, you need to bring it into the service provider cos this battery is the built-in one.

Yes it's built in but you can still replace it yourself.
Many people have done this too.

not advisable as if your DIY replacement is botched up, the service centre will refuse to repair the laptop for you..

Use only genuine Apple built in battery. Do not use any 3rd party type.

TS has no more AppleCare so even if you bring it to Apple, you will have to pay anyway.

Yes, i was quoted this price, have to pay labour charge due to non-warranty. Apple do sell the battery on its online store, but i dont have the tools to dismantle the notebook, so i need to find an alternative like a reseller to do it for me. Does anyone know if nubox does it?

that battery is actually meant for those computers without the built-in battery.

TS has no more AppleCare so even if you bring it to Apple, you will have to pay anyway.

yes he has to pay, but if he has opened the computer himself to replace the battery and it causes damage somewhere else, the service provider will not even touch the computer regardless of how much u want to pay them to repair it.

Macbook battry replacement

Share my experience on replacing my 15" Macbook Pro 2011 version. It is also the so-call non-replaceable model, i.e. battery hidden inside.

Battery was heading to the trash, could only last 20-30min. SInce I forgot to renew my
Applecare, started looking for replacement battery online. Found a shop in ShenZhen selling
the replacement for about USD72. So ordered it and when it came, it was the wrong connector. Anyway send back, ding dong a few emails, came the right one. Installing is no
problem as long as you have the correct screwdriver head and it is quite easy. Used this
replacement for 9 months, battery started to die again. Emailed them....after I tell them this
is still within 1 year warranty (as stated in their website, they went silent). KNN.

So went walking around Sim Lim Sq and finally found a shop that does repair services
and found the correct battery selling at SGD130 with 3 months warranty. Free installation.
Been using it for about 6 months and battery still solid, not like the previous one.

So lesson learnt: Remember to buy your Applecare.

yes, just one battery replacement within the applecare period is enough to justify the price of applecare.

i replaced my battery 4 months before my applecare expired.

1. A1321 Original battery from UNICELL in Sim Lim (SGD64) 6 months warranty
(at least thats what they told me ...)
2. Y Screwdriver from the same place (SGD3.7)
3. Screwdriver set for spectacles which I had....

UNICELL carrys quite a lots of models so u can find a battery for a DELL model to a ACER. Check with them.

Was quite easy to replace the battery on you own. Also cleaned the insides where I could get off dust etc.

Booted up and presto a working MBP Mid 2010. As to how long the battery actually last I will find out and update accordingly.

And yes I checked the System Report Power
