QNAP - QTS 4.0 blow you off

I went to Challenger, Funan last week for the QNAP promotion.
Wow, guess what, i saw the 100 inch LCD showing the QNAP new QTS 4.0.
Really amazing. I wanted to buy the SYNOLOGY before i came.
Checked it out and found that QNAP launch the 2 and 4 bay models.
Really amazing withe new user interface.
No regret. I got the 4 bay QNAP NAS. i tihink it is 420 new model. (4 bay).
Did a check on the specs and appeared to be better than SYNOLOGY 413.
Did the exploration on the new user interface.
So much neater and the function equally good too.
Would recommend for anyone who want to have a better value.

QTS 4.0 - QNAP

If you want to know the new QTS 4.o interface. go check it out at QNAP website.
Worth reading the entire new feature and did a compare to DSM 4.0 from SYNOLOGY.
Really give a run of the money.

GO check it out.

Recommended by brother in law same day and he came to my place and try out the new QTS 4.0,

Guess what, he went down to Challenger and secure 2 units of 4 bays for him and his sister in law.

Now we are share same unit and can have our personal cloud in our home.

Brother Bugis 718,

To come to think of you, i was wondering why you are the 1st to post on QTS 4.0.

The feature is so rich that i am surprised not many people even realized that until i purchased it and try it out. I also have the old SYNOLOGY model. Still prefer QNAP.

I think the promotion is over already. So i asked ask Challenger, can they still can give PC show promotion.

That was this Monday.

Mot sure anyone purchase after Monday this week?

Any other vendor selling QNAP?

QTS 4.0

Thank you for all the information. I will be heading down to get the QNAP either a 2 or 4bay depending on the price. Any recommendation besides Challenger where else can I go for good deal.

Gribber, thank so much for your benchmark. Look useful though technical enough.

I went to Challenger 2 days ago over the weekend and found the event hall no more displaying the QNAP. I asked the counter staff and posed some technical question but he was not able to tell me about some configuration.

He reference me back to level 4. It is called Memory World. i went there and found that they are also selling QNAP. So i took the opportunity to ask them my question i pose to Challenger and the sales man was very good and able to demo and show me the configuration. I certainly impressed by his service and knowledge. I did not pick the set on the same day as my office colleague wanted to buy 8 sets based on bulk discount.

Finally i went back this afternoon and decide to pick up the 4 bay QNAP 469L was very impressive. He give me a good discount which i felt was worth the price as we all have it fully loaded with 3 TB Seagate drive.

Got it set up within 1 hour and now running the new UI for version 4.0. Cant ask for more and i guess one of the lady DOREEN WU who posted the earlier track on QNAP 4.0 was really good. Not seen any UI better than this though my brother uses SYNOLOGY DSM. He also commented that he was impresses with QNAP new features.

Value for money. Not too sure what my rest of my colleagues are doing on the installation. Will feedback if any in my next thread as i have to travel again to Beijing tomorrow. Hope to test my QNAP 469L when i am in Bejing to see how is the response time having mY QNAP at home and go for a stress test from BEJING.

Brother Gribber, you are really techy guy. How you get the test result?
I am going to Challenger tomorrow to check it out and see is the QNAP 4 bay. I spend some time reading the new model for 4 bay from QNAP. Kind of like the look and fill from QNAP website compare to SYNOLOGY which is more plastic when i saw it at PC Show.
The chasis for QNAP look more solid.

Above all, seem that QTS 4.0 now is able to match SYSNOLOGY DSM 4.2
Kind of hard to decide on which one to pick other than price differences.

I dont look at price comparison alone as i know the PC show one of the vendor i went was damm blur....cant even explain the SYNOLGY model i wanted to buy at that time. I am not sure what booth was that Strange booth as you cant tell they are selling NAS. Dont know how these vendor can claim to be selling NAS. Cant even answer simple question.

Decide to delay my purchase on SYNOLOGY and hold back my decision until i come to this QNAP forum. At least, now i know i have an option other than SYNOLOGY.

Since another brother advise MEMORY WORLD In FUNAN, i will pay a visit to see if it is worth the buy. Let see if not, then i go for other brand...............

Any suggestion?

np.

my advice, go MW to see only. Buy it during the upcoming COMEX instead.

either brands are fine but you probably will get more HWZ support (qns) for Synology instead :)

We tested performance using three 3TB Western Digital Red drives, using Passmark Performance Test 7's Advanced Disk Tests. It returned a decent overall DiskMark of 811, with component scores of 79.4MB/sec for sequential reads, 100.9MB/sec for sequential writes and 43.9MB/sec for random reads and writes. These show much better write performance than its predecessor.

Thank you so my Gribber for your advise. I believe i am not looking for price as I believe in paying for good value and support.

In fact, i already went down to Memory World yesterday and brought 4 units if QNAP 469PRO.
I load it with 4 sets of 3 TB Seagate drive. Price is slightly higher bcos i wanted more high power HDD for my bay. 1 purchased one set for myself and 3 sets for my friends. One of my friend came with me was impressed by the demo we saw at Memory World.

The sales staff was very knowledgeable and technical. He help us to link the LCD panel and show us the XBMC which was bundled with QNAP. I was impressed by his service.

Another thing that impressed me was also the QTS 4.0 which was equally impressive compare to DSM 4.2

I cant wait until the next PC show, as the differences in price of event discount is not my prime concern. I have no regret buying the QNAP from anyone that sell me with good professional servie and after sales support.

Guess what, when the sales staff ask me if i wanted to take up the warranty. I ask him for more details and i was impressed the after sales really fit all of us even we had to pay a small insurance. In the end, we choose to take one of the after sales service.

My experience tell me that even buying at IT Show does not mean it is the best as it is so crowded and full of people. YOu can get your personal attention from the staff at IT SHow.

Here at Memory World, Funan, i really get a peace of mind where the personal service is what i want. Even though i cannot get from Challenger, i feel so good after i walk off from Memory World. I even called them on their hot line for some technical help and i am also impressed by the technical support. Speed of response was good. Guess what he even help me to configure some technical issue with my service provider, SINGTEL.

This is the kind buying experience i cannot get from other shop.....

Life can never be the same again if all other consumer buying experience is make to be the same way Memory World give me.......

Thank Gribber, Appreciate your advice.

Gribber,

I agreed with you that you can get more HWZ support for SYNOLOGY. I personally felt that the thread in SYNOLGY is flooded with too many threads. I cannot focus on those issues. I felt the quickest way to posed and raise question on technical is best to the vendors that i brought directly from which is Memory World, Funan. They even took my issues after the purchase.
Hence, i rather do that with MEMORY WORLD Instead of posting in the thread. Too complicated there. That is also the reason why i choose QNAP over SYNOLOGY. The thread is for people who are too free to search for answer.

So my mind set is clear, I want to ask issues related to QNAP, just all MEMORY WORLD and my answer are answered on the spot instead of posting in HWZ thread.

With all due respect, posting on thread is too many hazzle. Go direct to the vendor with the best after sales support and have a peace of mind is my choice of preference.

To each his own......some choose price differences, i choose a different path...................................

For other, i dont dont.

May the best win.

after trying to digest what the both of you read...

i can only say..

carrots.

During IT Exhibits, MW will be there with cheaper pricing.

You get both the support and price down.

but if you can't wait and feel rich, i have nothing to comment and enjoy your new toy

Gribber.

What that meaning of carrots?

I dont think i can wait that long. Price is not important because support is my need.
I am happy with my QNAP and nothing more i can ask for.

Even my friends also like it. So what more can i ask for?
I really like the new User interface. Performance is something i cannot complain as it serve me needs. I am not so techy as i only face problem setting up the link with the telco.
However, the helpdesk from Memory World assisted me all the way.

I tried the photo sharing, the documents sharing from both my IPAD and ANDROID phone.
All work well and it was impressive. Speed was reasonable in term of retrieving my files from both IPAD and my ANROID phone.

I also used my IPAD and ANDOROID phone as remote control for my NAS to control my LCD TV. Marvelous. Dont need a physical RC.

The audio sound was great when i connect to my HI FI which my husband set up for me.
It blow me off when we try BLACK KNIGHT.

Now i see why QNAP serve me need more. Hope to maximise it and benefits from it.
