Anyone have? How is it for a 1440p monitor?
Am considering getting the pivot no dead pixels from qpp10 after voucher. Would like some inputs. :D

I bought one approximately a month ago. A few personal observations.

I sit roughly 40-50 cm from the screen and i can still see some (pixels). I'm no tech geek but that generally means that the PPI isnt that hot (but its a budget screen remember that). Anything greater than 60 cm away though is good.

An important point to note is that MOST content is not even HD (720p) so when you upscale content to 1440p...well you dont get that uber sharp effect. Though the native is 1440p, i did try it out at 1080p but the overall effect appears abit more blurry (naturally) but I would reckon too that at 1080p it isnt as good (picture quality) as the high end LEDs (well you do get what you pay for).

Don't expect great black contrast from a LED (even one that has a Samsung PLS). It has difficulty with gamma and separating the deepest darks and the lightest lights. Didn't do any professional colour tests but the screen was noticeably darker than my 5 year old LG TV but has more colour saturation, contrast and detail.

Refresh rates for me are ok. Overclocked it to 87 Hz easily but couldn't achieve a stable OC at 110 or 96. Not much difference to me to be honest though I havent tested it on a fast FPS like CoD.

The base is heavy and tilts at an angle upwards. Personally I can't wait to remove it and vesa mount it.

Other things that I don't care for but might matter is the poor build quality (the Qnix logo is pasted on and dropped out :p) and the LoS/gaming modes are just erm rubbish.

Edit: there is a similarly priced Samsung 27" monitor (that cant be vesa mounted) with PLS as well I think but i can't recall the model that you can consider

Thanks for the detailed write up bro :D:D:D

It really appears to be a case of you pay for what you get :( but there's really very few (or even none, can't find any??) 1440p monitors at the price range that I would consider budget friendly ($400). There appears to be quite a number of 'bad' than good, although they don't put me off enough to not want that monitor yet.

Would you not get this monitor if you knew of the quality and go with a better one instead? :o

You are right though I can't (yet) find any 27" monitors with 1440p IPS (PLS) WITH a thin bazel for this price (if you know of better value please let me know). The qnix qx2710 (at 100-150 less) does satisfy all the above but comes with a fat bazel. Reason I bought the 2730r anyway is because I wanted an option to dual monitor this :D

I stated the "bads" is to manage the expectation. For $400, this monitor does a VERY good job. But you cant expect it to look or feel like a $1000 Samsung LED IPS. Anyways my biggest gripe is that i can sometimes slightly see some pixels. But really, sitting 40-50 cm away from any 27" screen, you'll more often than not see some pixels (unless maybe its 4k).

And to answer your million dollar question on whetehr i'll still buy it...I don't know bro. Most of the 27" IPS monitors cost over 7-800 (with FAT bezels) and my ultimate aim is to have a dual monitor set up. For my budget and for value, the 2730r does a seriously awesome job. Then again, if you only want 1 monitor, maybe the 2710 might be a more value option.

Edit: i dont think you need to pay more for a "perfect pixel" option. To bring my Qoo10 cost <400 to avoid GST, i chose the "normal" option and it appears perfect to me when I was performing tests on it

No idea about others, I won't for sure.

After all, we are looking at the monitor for many hours daily, don't "torture" you eye with inferior built monitor. :)

This is my personal opinion of course. I think after using the 2730r for a month, I can say that it looks better than the 21-27" Samsung ones that challenger sells. It however looks inferior to my brother in law's 4k 65" Sony Bravia that cost 10x more. It's not a fair comparison but it's all I got. But I'm not willing to shell out 1k for more premium 27" monitors without trying the 2730r.

But like I say, this is great for a dual monitor set up no doubt about it. For single monitor set up, maybe the qx2710 gives you better value.

Edit: The build (physical metal case) is poor quality for sure. No review of even the qx2710 will say its built well. Cheap metals and screws and its done. But if you are after substance (and a thin bazel), the value is (to me) quite unbeatable.

On a few occasion, I almost buy this monitor just because of the attractive price for a 27 inches display.

I'm looking for a larger LCD due to my age, no longer young. :)

Currently using Dell U2410, difficult for me to accept Qnix etc.. after physically looking at it (from a friend sharing the same office with my ex-company), waiting for Dell offer on the 27 inches U series in March, if any.

was it the display quality, or build quality that turned you away?

More on the display quality. Very tough to adjust myself to look at the 27 inches Qnix compared to my U2410/U2311HM/U2415H monitors.

Getting older now, 24 inches seem to be slightly "small" to me. :o

Ie the picture quality of the U2415H is way better than the 27" 2730r such that you won't buy it?

I'm really curious. I need to take a look at the U2415H and those models you mentioned. Where in Singapore can I find those models on display?

To me, yes.

The U2410 and U2415H is much better than this Qnix 27 inches. If you look at it using photo/pictures, you can't really tell the different. Only when you zoom many fine lines (CAD/CAM/Vector) then you can clearly see the different.

Not that Qnix cannot display the fine lines, it can, no doubts about it. The only different is display fine lines with a very slight glaring/flurry image which is not present in the Dell U2415H/U2410 currently using at home and office.

I'm not entire sure which shop displayed the U2415H, can try your luck in PCT or Video-Pro, both are selling Dell monitors. The U2410 is no longer available but it's one of the best 24 inches 1920x1200 (16:10) IPS monitor IMHO.

Thanks for the assist.

I'm getting old too so the 27" monitor is a huge step up for me. Problem for me is cost beacuse I want a dual monitor setup. I'm too used to it at work that I want that feel at home too. But its true, you get what you pay for:) And I can buy 2 2730 or 1 good 27" IPS.

Decisions decisions. Also, I really need to pay a vist to SLS or Funan to see those high end monitors on display. Abit afraid that abit I see what the really good stuff looks like, I can't buy budget value monitors again.

This is exactly my "problem", really tough to switch to other display after using Dell U series for so many years.

My first ultra sharp Dell was the 1704FP bought in 2006, it last 9 years and finally RIP late last year, still working but the panel leaked and developed bristles.

Old now, older than independence Singapore.

To be perfectly honest, I think Plasma gave the best (and I mean the best) picture quality. I think OLED comes close now but the prices....oh man. My dad had a plasma but it died really fast (2-3 years I think) and he was so pissed at the poor quality that he went for LEDs a few years back and is pleased as punch that it has survived for years (maybe 4 now) without dying.

But after watching plasma tv, LED seems....meh (no offense). Same for monitors. I accepted low end budget stuff (been using CRT and the like for eons) so I won't compare it to plasma but the problem is when you lay your eyes on candy you won't forget that taste:)

Anyways thanks for all the opinions and sharing here. Really good to know HWZ ain't all trolls and rubbish.

Sorry to hear that man. I would think mine is ok (for now). I've been stressing it a fair bit with various OC-ing. But its shipped from Korea (bought on Qoo10) so I assumed that meant 0 warranty anyway.

Can you post a pic with the light bleed?

I have read report on QX2730R getting very bad backlight bleeding.

therefore i gotten QX2710 LED Evolution ll DPmulti True10 Perfect

QX2710 LED evolution II DPmulti true10 is the only panel review in TFTcentral, i go through tons of reviews and dont see much people complain about backlight issue.

I wanted to pay more for QX2730R, but the review puts me down.

Take a look on the image i upload. i dont see any severe backlight bleeding.

I might be getting old. Yes there is bad light bleed on the 2730r (i'm not really affected by it though...I must really be getting old).

Also another word on Pixel density. According to this rentina distance calculator: isthisretina.com for a 1440p monitor at 27" you need to sit ~80cm away for it to become retina. So it might not be 2730r problem but more so a resolution/sitting distance problem.

Just to chime in my 2 cents about plasma, since mini_cow brought it up. I'm using a 5 year old Pioneer Kuro plasma and I can vouch for the picture quality. A plasma tv's colours, contrast, and black levels are just something that you can't get on any monitor now. But then, plasma is really best suited for movies, where it does not require any input from the viewer. For what it offers: colours, contrast, black levels, general picture quality, it does these exceptionally well.

If you're a heavy gamer, especially online games, then you'll probably want to stay away from a plasma as it doesn't give you the fast response times, high refresh rates, and the now prevalent G-SYNC capabilities. To sum up, for movies, casual single-player games and console games/ports which are optimised for controllers (doesn't need precision of a mouse/kb), a plasma still kicks ass, but other than that, a decent monitor will probably serve you better.
