A phone with a CPU powered by the 7 Gen X series—where "X" represents the specific number—is impressive! Does a CPU like that really exist? Is it considered powerful or more mid-range? And is it better than the 8 Gen series?

Snapdragon follows this format (let us skip those ancient 2 series or older...)
- 4 Series (Entry)
- 6 Series (Budget)
- 7 Series (Mid tier?)
- 8 Series (High end)

But this format is still the same.
- 4 Gen 1
- 6 Gen 1
- 7 Gen 1
- 8 Gen 1

AFAIK, for new Gen X chips, there is also sub series
- 7s Gen 3
- 7 Gen 3

Gen 1 to Gen 2 increment isn't that huge but Gen 1 to Gen 3/Gen 4 could be a possible upgrade.
Mostly are for computing for the cameras / games.

FYI - mediatek dimensity chips are also quite capable already now, don't brush them off.

By right should be Gen 1 2022, Gen 2 2023, Gen 3 2024 when they made the naming series change from 700's
But that kinda went out the window like all tech renaming, still somewhat accurate but shouldn't be taken strictly

7 Series is the most confusing since there are 7s and 7+
Current ranking is like:

Snapdragon 7s Gen 2
Snapdragon 7 Gen 1
Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 = Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (this one is really close and they trade blows)
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3

And though 7 Gen 4 isn't out yet, it should be weaker than 7+Gen2
