Should not unless your hand is so itchy.

All the mechanical switch will have a life and eventually it will break if you keep switching it. But the iPhone silent switch should be used not so often and for the life span of 3-4 years it should not be a problem.

The Home button is a different story — my three year old iPhone 6S+ has the non-working home button already as used too much by the kids.

I silent all ringtones except notifications. Even then the volume is all the way down. So i dont have to rely on the silent switch.

Yeah I think slowly but surely the hardware buttons and the switch will be gone one at a time. Maybe they can replace the volume key with a capacitive touch sensitive tab with haptic feedback.

Even those in Apple Store also very mum about new product launches i.e. AirPods 2 when arrive etc., when being asked by me.

So the new AW5 will come with only the Digital Crown & capacitive button, like how this capacitive button was first introduced in iPhone 7? Perhaps to improve the waterproof ratings?

The staff in the store won’t know about new product launches. Heck, they don’t even have to know about product specs and features from the start. What most important to them is customer engagement which they have been stressing on.

Anyway, Mr Kuo already mentioned about capacitive button with haptic feedbacks being in the plans. If not in the Series 4 then it will be in Series 5 etc. Yes, you are right. Capacitive buttons will help to improve water resistant ratings and minimise water damage.
