Gentle reminder. Melaka is suppose to be no plastic bags effective Jan 2016.
If u go shopping, best bring some bags along.

Just came back. Was caught by surprise when we shopped at Mahkota Popular and Giant.
End up buying a reusable bag from Giant, but used it to pack the stuff we bought, so still ok.

Saw a "circus show" at Giant when a group of 10plus tourist making a ruckus due to the no plastics rule. They were buying trolleys full of stuff.. shouting at the cashier etc....

Sent from Asus ASUS_Z00LD using GAGT

ya lor! I didn't know that too on our arrival on 17 march. Saw a poster in Palawan mall said that everyday no plastic bag. We forgot about that and bought many drinks in Giant. End up we stuff everything in our haversack.

But to some stores, they still give plastic, I saw ppl carrying, H&M, watson and other plastic bags. According to one store in Palawan Mall, she told me they secretly give plastic bags to customers because they lost a lot of business, many customers do not want to buy when they heard no plastic bag. If kena caught giving plastic will kena summon.

The Giant cashier must have not told the customers that no plastic bags during the purchase that is why the customers get angry. No wonder I was thinking why the Giant cashier so good, tell us no plastic before our purchases. Must be due to the incident you witness.

In Melaka, it's now no longer restricted to weekends.

However, I've noticed a few like Mr DIY, Brand Outlets, and Watsons are still giving plastic bags. Popular and Aeon used paper bags.

You can always buy a recycle bag from one of these places, each costing as little as S$0.90 to S$2?

Luckily I brought 3 recycle bags from Singapore. I find recycle bag very useful. so much durable than plastic bag and paper bag. I always see ppl throwing away the recycle bags in Singapore. So wasteful.

I always bring recycle bags whenever I go overseas de not because I want to save the earth, is because you can throw all your purchases into one big recycle bag and easier to carry mah. :s13::s13:

I feel it's a good habit to cultivate even when we're not traveling, so that we can easily adapt once we're away.

Countries like Taiwan and Hong Kong already don't give plastic bags quite a while back?

That is a good move. I don't know why our country here failed in this programme. Last time NTUC practised no bags on Wednesday and don't know why they still give out till the end.

Coz there is still a need for plastic bags... Regardless, the number given out has gone down

Has anyone here tried using Grab Taxi in Melaka before?

I've used it twice the past few days, after trying it out a few times in JB, and got a message that I'd be charged a flat rate after it's displayed. Regardless, it's still cheaper than the rates quoted by the taxis on the road.

You must go for at least 3D2N. Go and enjoy the food. Must go Jonker street to enjoy the food, Jonker weekend nite market. The attractions are all nearby.

Do throw any questions which you are not sure. We will be glad to advise you.

jonker street open on weekdays?or only weekends?

how much should I change for 3d2n in Malacca if food and hotel is already paid for?
Depends on what else you want to buy and other activities.

jonker street open on weekdays?or only weekends?
The shops open daily till about 5pm, the pasar malam from Friday to Sunday about 5pm to 9 or 10pm when many of those shops will also be open.

Hi Guys, The accomodation I booked does not provide any form of parking, have to park along the road side. Not sure if it's safe to do that overnight, also parking is likely going be very difficult near Jonker. Does anyone know of anywhere I can pay to have secure parking to park overnight? At least sheltered parking? I heard some of the pay money to jagar places the guy leaves after a few hours by the time you come back he's gone.

You can park at a major hotel in the area if you prefer. The Casa Del Rio, for instance. But other people who do not mind paying also have the same idea...

Air Keroh R&R is actually situated after the Air Keroh exit for Malacca. It is a huge overhead bridge. http://plus.com.my/images/stories/map-nse-2012.pdf
Keep to the left lane unless overtaking.

That's quite a long journey drive. Will it be better to drive through 2nd link or causeway? As I stays quite near to wdls area.
