for those who are driving can try Huang Chang Chicken Rice Restaurant, much tastier and cheaper than those over-rated jonker chicken rice.

In JB, I go to money changer if I run out of RM.

In Melaka, I head for the Maybank ATM.

Came across a couple of money changers in the malls, but rates not nice. Maybe due to them being tourist areas.

Any recommendations for a hotel that is suitable for 3 adults, and generally below RM 300 per night on a weekend ?

Location need not be too central, as we will be driving. Free car parking will be a plus. Been looking through various listings filtered for 3 guests, but all are 'maximum 3 adults' and lack adequate beds.

Suites in the Imperial Heritage can also take 3 adults. Likewise with Sterling Boutique.

You may want to check out Hotel Mimosa, I've stayed there a couple times, it is near to the famous Malacca popiah, and about a 15 min walk to joker Street.

One thing is that since it is a central location, driving would mean a long traffic jam.

How can I omit the Mimosa, which was my regular choice. Over 5 times in the previous decade. Meaning it is probably very dated now if there has not been any renovation. Otherwise a central location at the old market, very near to heritage streets. Parking within the hotel grounds is limited though. If you are on a budget, the hotel is a good choice, and budget food options abound in the area.
Unless you stay outside of Malacca town, in places like Air Keroh and Klebang, expect poor traffic conditions getting to your choice of hotel.
