Question about Malacca

Hi guys, I am planning to drive up to Malacca 2 weekends from now for a 2D1N trip. Got a few questions to ask:

1. What time is the best to drive in? 7am?

2. How long does it take to reach malacca?

3. Is it safe to drive?

i usually reach sg customs before 745am on weekdays. hardly jam much. in melaka, amj hwy may jam. if so, add 30 more mins. :(

2. How long does it take to reach malacca?

from jb- ns hwy - ayer keroh exit - melaka sentral, about 2.5 hours.

3. Is it safe to drive?
yup.
stay within the speed limit.
dont hog the fast lane, and give way to veh thats traveling faster than u.
dont leave any belongings in the car.
inspect ur car b4 u drive, ie engine oil radiator and brake fluid levels, tire pressure, check for any signs of leaks...

2. How long does it take to reach malacca? 3 to 4.5 hours depending on the traffic leading into the town

3. Is it safe to drive? How is any answer here going to affect anything?

It would depend on what day you are planning to go up. I would recommend on the day you plan to head to melacca, check the trafficams for Woodlands.

My family normally would wake up around 6 in the morning, planning to head out at 7, but if the border has traffic, we would eat a light breakfast nearby.

With regards to your second question, it takes about 3hrs(factoring in traffic at the border) it can be more, so keep that in mind.

Is it a safe drive? Well, fairly, I've driven up a few times now, even as far as penang, and I can say that I've made it back to Singapore all in one piece. I would take note of all the speed cameras along to way though...

suggestion

any suggestion which coach bus to take from sg to malacca? which has best seats, wifi, tv etc?

or is it better to book private car for 4 pax?

Since you have 4, a car may be a better proposition. You get to arrive on the doorstep of your hotel and you do not waste time for meal breaks. It will be a quicker journey. In any case, coaches were discussed in this thread. Screen through the pages.
