I did that too!
Only use the car when driving to Melaka and then driving out. If not, will park in the hotel carpark permanently.

But this time round, booked an AirBNB, so looks like will be driving the car. Probably will Grab to Jonker, but will drive out to further places to hunt for food to try.
Jonker is nightmare to drive

Totally!

I've only drove there when I first went there back in 2008/9. At that time, they still had pockets of carparks with attendants to leave the car. One such site was where Hard Rock is now standing.

My last trip, I only drove through Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock to find a parking space for me to eat at Poh Piah Lwee before I depart from Melaka. Also my first time using the Melaka's parking app. :o

There's an open carpark in front of Casa del Rio Hotel & Residences.

On Aug 6, budget airline Scoot announced it will be launching flights to the Malaysian state starting from Oct 23. Flights to Melaka will be served five times weekly with all-in economy class fares starting at S$69.
anyone tried Scoot flight to Malacca before?

I drove to Malacca on Sunday and stayed at the Imperial Heritage. Two things going for the Imperial Heritage again are the hotel's car park and the location of the hotel within walking distance to A' Farmosa. Walked up to Church of St Paul's for the umpteenth time despite the rain. I won't recommend the hotel if not for the location and price. Amenities have aged considerably and the aircon leaked badly. Another advantage with the location is the abundance of Peranakan restaurants in Melaka Raya nearby.

Jonker's Walk was less crowded than usual, due to the evening rain, so I was able to park underneath the Hard Rock Cafe (RM5).

I witnessed that Melaka Gateway has failed utterly. So much for another of those Belt & Road Initiative projects. Many corresponding projects around Melaka Gateway are visibly abandoned, including the Harbour City, which can be seen from any high point in town. Hyped to be one the biggest malls in the region, the upper floors remain incomplete, with no construction activity in sight. Hopefully the adjacent cruise terminal gets to be reworked, so at least there is something salvaged.

If one wants to get up close with the Straits of Malacca, unobstructed, an option is to drive to Encore Melaka which is situated on reclaimed land by the Straits.

Imperial Heritage location very good but old. If big brand hotel, will do renovation.
Encore Melaka evening very windy, the show is worth going.

Take coach ba, the distance is too short to take flight~ consider the check-in time wasted at airport and the restriction on items to bring on flight, coach probably better~ :s22:

KKKL is my usual choice of coach for Malacca. The coach takes just over 4 hours in smooth traffic on the NS highway but you arrive more or less in town, unlike the flight. Moreover, the flight takes almost 3 hours each way with the check-in procedures, at over double the price of a coach ticket. The coach will always stop mid-way for a toilet break.

Coach can just buy online, you can find your prefer pickup and dropdown location. Not worth taking plane as the tourist attraction n airport also not near, based on google need abt 1hr journey.

Hi everyone

Have booked Hatten for 01 to 03 May (Good Friday long weekend). Know is a long weekend but the little ones childcare is close on 01 and 02 May. That's why decided to bring them on a short road trip to Malacca.

I know that traffic at the checkpoints will be terrible. For those who have been through long weekends drive into Malaysia before, may I know if the traffic will be heavy at the checkpoints at 6am on the actual day of the PH?

Thanks in advance.

Expect 5pm to midnight jam too~ use "Beat the Jam" to see live traffic condition at the custom~ once you see the traffic chart is going down, can go in immediately liao~ sometimes it may turn out to be no jam at all cos everyone was avoiding the peak hours~ :s22:
