Went for servicing and notice the mech was putting in different sparkplug. I ask them the numbering in the plug is different. They said it OK.

Went home googling abit, found out the plug they put it is one step hotter (in term of heat range) than the manual recommended. The rest of the spec are the same.

So far didn't notice anything on the car, in fact the fuel economy goes up abit :s11:, usually around 13 km/L , now showing around 16km/L. Also feel the car a bit more responsive.

Any guru can advice if there is any ill effect on the engine in the long run ?

new spark plug confirm run smoother and better fc. did some googling and found this. so look out for both.

The heat range must be carefully selected for proper spark plug thermal performance. If the heat range is not optimal, then serious trouble can be the result. The optimal firing end temperature is approximately 500°C (932°F) to 800°C (1472°F). The two most common causes of spark plug problems are carbon fouling (< 450°C) and overheating (> 800°C).

stock plugs change every 10k or iridium plugs of same heat range and gap change every 100k.

There is some variation in workshop practice when it comes to the brands used for replacing spark plugs, engine oil, transmission oil, coolant, coolant water, oil filter, transmission oil filter, air filter, light bulbs, batteries, coil spring, damper, aircon gas, bearings.

There are several reputable manufacturers and their products will work. However if you want to insist on specific brands, then you must source for these parts and bring them to the workshop.

Lesson learned. Bring my own part next time.

IMO everything stock is the easiest. Everything works, no need to think about compatibility.
