Question for EVGA PSU from amazon...

Hi all,

I wanted to hoot the following model, 'EVGA SuperNova G2 550 watt' from Amazon USA but i have some enquiry.

The picture shows the power cord is USA type, i believe it can be change to the 1 Singapore is using 1 right?
My friend told me to check the voltage, current, etc... if it can be use in Singapore but i not really sure what is correct usage. Any advise?

then shld be ok

80 PLUS Gold certified, with 90% (115VAC) / 92% (220VAC~240VAC) efficiency or higher under typical loads

UK/USA use 110/120V and others use 220/240V
just change the head plug or change to 3 pin normal power cord settle

This is available on Lazada by local distro with local warranty about 120SGD (if use coupon). Why opt for Amazon?

That said though, the Superflower Leadex version uses proprietary modular 9 pin cables. It seems they actually restrict 3rd party use of the connector (i.e on cable sleeving sites).

So if you're in to buying custom sleeved cables (if not DIYing), you can hardly find leadex sleeved cables and sleeved extensions are your only choice.

Modular cables on the supernova version are not proprietary and some cabling stores do sell their custom cables.

the cables have a capacitor at the end to mobo/gpu/hdd to suppress voltage ripple , cannot bend too many times at that part and cannot cut it off

last year in this forum got 1 guy anyhow buy DIY sleeved set from another local via buy/sell app .... anyhow plug in without testing killed a few hundred dollar asus motherboard .... waste time waste effort for cosmetic difference inside casing

I'd like to believe the cause for that is most likely due to wrong wiring connection (eg power to gnd, etc). The capacitors are only present in the included cables. Even evga's own sleeved cables lack those caps. In any case if you're concerned about losing the caps, then you may opt for extension cables.

I heard good review about the EVGA G2 psu and i just nice have a US$10 amazon discount, so as well just use it. Didn't really go into much details for PSU so not sure about other brands :s

Im using a 750watt EVGA Supernova G2, bought from amazon.
-Need have own power plug(becos US plug different)
-They got the active switching thingy between 120vac and 240vac(automatic de)

That's the real difference a supernova g2 vs. superflower leadex can accommodate. I'm not sure if TS would be able to tell the difference? At that point, it is unclear why TS would want a Supernova G2 from Amazon over Leadex gold with local warrant if you don't get the thought process behind my point. .

Yes, the PSU's about 100-220V 50-60Hz. Only a compatible cable will be needed to use the Supernova G2 in SG.

But glad to see the case has been closed, anyway.

Because its cheaper and it comes with 7 yrs warranty. You rma to Taiwan which is frankly more of a hassle but from start to end you can rma from the comfort of your home.

Cheaper if assuming ts is eligible for free shipping and pays in usd.

There's a severe flaw in the leadex platform that superflower cheated to get the false impression of a good holdup time. The power good signal is dropped AFTER the rails went out of specs.

didn't see this info when I bought my evga last year november , back then the product line still very new only a few websites did review with internal inspection

and I recommend to turn off the ECO mode switch

let the 140mm fan spin even when low power consumption , better to have some airflow over the internal parts for longevity

Voltage. One test shown 10.8V on the +12 rail when power good drops to 0. This will apply much stress to the +12 voltage regulators.

It's a fairly recent review by Tomshardware. The practical impact is not really clear though.

To conclude, if you want only high-quality caps in your PSU and you also want to avoid the SF-550F14MG's problem with its power-good signal, then stick with EVGA's 550 G2, which uses only Japanese caps and, although it has a lower than 16ms hold-up time, its power-good signal is inline with the actual hold-up time.
