I currently have an iphone & am planning to get an ipad air soon. I had some questions about the apps & app store.

So its the same AppleID for all my devices (MBP, iphone, ipad & Apple Watch). I will be installing some apps on both iphone & ipad, some apps only on iphone & some apps only on ipad.

As its the same AppleID logged in to appstore & icloud, i was wondering:

1. When i back up both iphone & ipad, in the event i need to restore or transfer to new iphone or new ipad, will the system know which apps i wanted on both devices, which i wanted on iphone only & which on ipad only? Or will it just backup EVERYTHING together thus when restored, everything appears in both devices?

2. I assume the free 5 GB given by apple for icloud backup & other stuff is for ALL devices? If so, now with an ipad added i guess higher chance i’ll need to upgrade my icloud account.

3. Sorry if this sounds dumb but never had ipad before. So when i first set it up, presumably I need to download the apps i want right? Its not like when i migrate from old iphone to new iphone & everything goes over.

4. If i have certain data on my iphone apps will it auto be in ipad once i download & log in? Like PressReader for eg. I have it on iphone & have downloaded some magazines. So if i download PressReader on ipad & login to my account, will i need to redownload the magazines or its already there?

TIA!

e backups are separate.  also recently implemented temporary unlimited iCloud storage for purpose of letting customers migrate from old device to new device. temporary for up to 3 weeks.

1) it will backup by device and you can identify each device backup

2) yes, unless u wait till ios15 https://www.macrumors.com/2021/06/07/apple-icloud-storage-temporary-expansion/

3) yes unless you want to restore from your iPhone backup. But I suggest starting from scratch as not all iPhone settings are compatible with iPad

4) yes cause distinct

biometrics are stored on device and never pushed to the cloud. so all biometric authentication stuffs, you need to reregister/enable them.

hi thanks for the answer, so that mean for those fingerprints authentication app in android when i switch over to ios, i will be able to use the face ID as alternative for unlock instead of fingerprints right? since iphone no longer have any fingerprints detection hardware.

when u download the app in ios, is an ios app, and it will just follow the authentication method of the phone.
