question on digital controllers

hi, i'm new to this forum and also quite new to rc toys.

i have an digital rc and some lipo batts for my planes last time. it's been years since i touched them.
1. will my rc spoil (even if i have taken out the batteries)
2. how do i properly dispose of my lipo batts?
