Hi,

Can anyone advise on this?

How and which transportation system can it be used on? Whether tap when boarding or alighting? Can it be used on metro, rail, speed train, nantou buses, ubus, taichung bus, keelung bus, taiwan united bus, Ego bus?

Thanks:)

Metro in Taipei.
Rail to Maybe as north as Yilan. And as south to Hsinchu for now.
HSR, not yet. But soon.
Nantou bus, i not too sure.
uBus to HSR, can.
Taichung bus, can.
Keelung bus,can.
Taiwan United BUS? WTF is that in Chinese?
Ego Bus, not sure.

Why you ask until so specific ah? You gonna take all this ah?:s13:

Whether tap when boarding or alighting?
Generally it's used the same way as Ezylink - tap when boarding and then tap again on alighting. But I think it's best to confirm with the driver the former (i.e. whether you need to tap when boarding), since I've experienced cases when the bus driver told me not to tap and to wait till my stop before tapping when I alight (i.e. I ended up tapping it once) - these cases were when the bus trip was quite short... (bus fare as around 15NTD or so)

High speed rail (HSR) u need to buy the tickets at the counter.

For easy card, you should be able to pay for the majority of the counties, less taitung and some less urban places.

There are buses that requires u to tap before and after boarding, on boarding or after boarding, so just check or listen to the driver for help.

My opinion is you do not need to know all these details, just check with the Taiwanese and they are mostly kind and oolite to share with you. Most important is to enjoy your trip than to be preoccupied with these details.
