Hi experts

I'm torn between a gtx750 or gtx760. I use my pc more like a htpc than a gaming machine. However I also do not mind topping up for a better gpu. My main concern is on power consumption since I leave my pc overnight for download. Question is, when not gaming, does a higher power rated card still consume so much power or it actually uses a lot less? I am very attracted to the advertised 50 to 60w the gtx750 uses ...

Thanks for reading.

GPUs will only reach peak power consumption when the GPU is at 100% load at tasks like gaming or rendering images. If not at 100% load, the GPU is going to consume much less power. You will want to read reviews on the idle power consumption of both the GTX 750 and GTX 760 and base your decisions on the idle power consumption of these GPUs to meet your specific needs since download stuff will not involve the use of the GPU in any way.

Actually almost any kind of gpus including the volcanic r9 290x draws minimal power so long as its on idle.

Amd cards in the other hand has this ability to completely turn off when the displays goes off and your pc is on total idle mode.

Most cards will draw between 5-6w range when its totally on idle.
