question on interest rate graph .

Hi, can anyone tell me what happen in 2010 that cause the interest graph to spike and be unstable during the year?

Not sure about you, but looking at the above, I would instead be asking what led to stability in/after 2010 instead...

is it because inflation causes the money supply to increase therefore banks decrease the interest rate ?

Inflation was quite high i remember.

You might also want to check Interest rate of Australia, New Zealand, China during that period.

Even ECB raised rate i remember.

All these were causes the Quantitative Easing implemented by Federal Reserve a year before that.

strictly speaking, is this even a spike?
long term chart as you have posted subsequently indicates how insignificant this is.

you want to see spike? look at cyprus or india. :crazy:

This looks like a data collection issue. It looks like the points have gone from daily (or weekly) before 2010, to monthly afterward. What's your source for the data?
