Question: On MR and IPT

Hi all,

I got a question but I don't know who to call or able to answer me. My base and NS.sg were un able to give me an answer so I had to ask here. Hope some bros can enlighten me.

This is my situation. I'm from the Air Force and had served my last ICT (low key) during July. Shortly, I had received a letter asking me to attend the MR ceromany end of August. I was not able to attend IPPT during my ICT and had thought of taking the IPT.

So the question is,
With the MR ceromany approaching in August and my DOB is in March. Do I still need to do my IPPT (but my actual intention is to attend IPT)?


Any kind bros can advise? Or direct me to the correct person to answer this?

You only officially MR on 1st April 2014. You don't really need to do the full ipt but just do ippt so that you won't be charged as ippt defaulter.

You may want to call ns.sg to double check cuz I not sure if saf work year is same for air force.

Yes, same work year starting on 1st April.

But if I fail my IPPT, I will need to serve RT, right?

No need cuz by 1st Apr, you should be in the mr list. The system won't allow u to book anything.

i think he still need to do IPPT/RT or IPT.. cos his birthday is in March... so 3 months before his birthday must do IPPT and RT within the last 3 months (which mean jan to march)... he cant siam the RT if he fail IPPT cos MR date is 1st April.

if it is the old system of doing RT after birthday, then he can siam...

I pass my IPPT in last Nov

My last ICT will be on Feb till 15 March.

So I will consider MR by 1st April 2014 right? no Ippt or IPT or RT for me right?

BTW what watch are they giving for MR? still that hamilton?

One thing is confirmed, TS will officially MR in 1st Apr 2014.
Therefore, if TS does not take his IPPT and/or RT between now and then,
what is the worst that can happen?
TS may get charge between his birthday in March 2014 and 1st April 2014.
So pay a fine and wait till 1st Apr 2014 and he will MR liao.
That will be much much better than going for 20 sessions of RT.

Unless of course SAF can “refuse” to MR people until they clear IPPT.

Almost same situation. In RSAF, Birthday Sep, hitting 40.
Just completed my last high key. Failed my ippt, but i went for RT. RT Ippt on the 8 session still failed. Now thinking of giving up, since i will be hitting 40. They cannot ask me to re book RT right? I email to ns.sg no reply.
