Hi, need advice from the experts here. Currently i have a 500GB HDD, wanted to upgrade to a 240GB SSD. Understand that i have to go through cloning software to move all my things over. Question is:

I have 2 partition on my current disk, partition A (225GB), partition B (225GB) also. As i do the cloning, will the partition remains? Even though my current space is 500GB, i have utilise it less than 240GB, so i assume my things cloing over is not an issue. Lastly, on my new SSD, i would have to resize the partitions. How do i go about doing it?

Thanks in advance!

Seems that you are unable to use a disk to disk cloning because the primary HDD is larger than the SSD. You need to clone the partitions by partitions. And you will need to remember to clone the MBR too.

You can try using PartEd. By the way, what is your file system used on the HDD?

File system is using ntfs. My ssd finally came but I tried to figure out the whole night but cannot clone over.

Current disk 500GB only want to clone partition A which only uses about 80GB
New SSD is 240GB

Tried using easeus to copy over, however when running diskcheck, always stuck at a certain percentage. Any one can advice?

Is the EasUS application running from Windows OS? Does your OS drive have very little space left? I am not sure if that is reason why the diskcheck is stuck.

Later you will face issues to the point that you will format and clean install all.
