Hi guys! I am new on this forum. Recently I have been reading lots of threads on people's GPA and their results and whether they have been accepted into any university with their GPA. I am really very worried. Recently I have just gotten my finalized results on Temasek Poly (Aerospace Electronics) and was wondering where I can go next.

For my first 3 semester I did not do well and now I'm thinking of my choices and where I should go SIT/SUTD/NTU/Others (any advice). Also I am going to share my GPA for every semester and I hope y'all can help me as I sincerely want to know where I am able to make it into. (I know it's not a good result but please don't judge me :< ) I have a strong leaning towards engineering courses/ or aerospace programmes.

1st Sem: GPA 3.40
2nd Sem: GPA 3.14
3rd Sem: GPA 3.09
4th Sem : GPA 3.68
CGPA: 3.38
5th Sem(Internship): (currently) not graded

notable achievements: student internship scholarship award

If ya'll have any advice on which I should attempt to try please help me out. I really want to enter aerospace course related in SIT, also is there any chance for me at all in NTU EEE/ SUTD ? (Still got 2 years of NS).

Thanks so much and I hope those who are looking for answers can also get some info here. :s8:

Hi, I was from TP AMS, now in NTU.

CGPA-wise, I would strongly suggest that you try your best to pull it up to at least 3.4+, otherwise a little hard.

One silver lining though, is that for poly students, your CGPA only counts for 80%. The other 20% comes from your 'O' level score. So if that was good, it should help you a little.

All the best!

Thanks for the response! Really don't think I can do anything about my GPA at this current stage, since I'm not even entirely sure if my internship counts towards GPA (which I heard it's not, which is weird since we were supposed to get 5 semesters cGPA for uni admissions). My O-levels were rather lacking, with 17 points, B4 for English and my only A1 for DnT. I hope I can make it..

Cheer up Roy! You are still in the final game of the final set and the score is "deuce, advantage Roy", since you have your final semester at your disposal to raise your CGPA. Work hard for that NTU EEE goal; if need be improve on your strategy for that final push .... :)

Thanks for the moral support. However sadly I've found out that I am currently in my 6th semester and apparently I was confused with my results but here they are :

L1.1 - 3.4
L1.2 - 3.15
L2.1 - 3.09
L2.2 - 4.0 (major project)
L3.1 - 3.45
(The 3.68 is a combination of 4.0 and 3.45)
Hence my cGPA sits at 3.38
Well heres to hoping that my 6th semester will do me well.

If you think your care person cannot give you good advise, talk to your cc (course coordinator) or cm (course manager). You can also speak to other diploma's cc/cm and gather more information. Frankly, NTU is a bit difficult.

Please aim for 3.8at least for the last sem.Your GPA is not as volatile and you need to get extreme results to pull it up. 3.5 should be ok if the IGP doesnt rise

Is there any chance that appealing will help me get into NTU? Maybe I should just give it a try..

does uni admissions consider 6th semester? pretty sure they only take 5 semesters into account hence a rise or dip doesn't make much of a difference but I could be wrong.

During my time, we sent them the results of the 5 semesters and then send them the results of the 6th sem several months later. You still have to send the final sem's result eventually.

I was from SP DEEE (Aerospace Electronic) Option.

I also went to the University Fairs at Suntec city in 2011 and look at the SIT+uni of glasgow 2 Years BEng (Hons) Aerospace System.

At that time I consulted some of my poly lecturers, I was given the advice to go for a general BEng EEE Degree instead of a more "specialised" degree.

They also told me a general BEng EEE Degree will give me more knowledge outside of aerospace, which may be helpful when finding a job.

Also, I was told as aerospace electronics is still Electrical/Electronic Engineering, studying the general basics at uni will give enough concept to help me in learning aerospace electronics if i choose to work in this area in the future.

My CGPA during my second last semester was 3.58, I applied to NTU EEE and was accepted.

Thanks for the input, really appreciate the info. Personally I agree with what your lecturer said, highly doubt I will be accepted into NTU EEE.. hoping they would at least consider the award I've attained during my Major Project which was only awarded to 5 students in my cohort
