Question regarding ASUS routers -please help

hello, i'm not a techie so i know nuts about the technical side of networking. i signed up for the MR 1gbps plan and opted for the AC56U, but i'm beginning to wonder if the guy at the it show knew what he was talking about.

I live in a 5 room HDB flat. would the AC56U be sufficient? or should i change to a AC68U? I'm asking in terms of the wireless performance, matched to the 1gbps plan.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! thanks!

You can only reach 1Gbps provided your internet is wired, otherwise for wireless it will always be much slower due to interference from distance, barriers and electronic devices.

yup that i know, but would it be right to say by opting for the 68U i would in fact push the wireless speed to the max possible? Not exactly sure how the dual band works(wi-fi always work on 2 bands in tandem?)

Ac68u will be a better device to broadcast stronger, further and high speed coverage. But right now are ur wireless devices able to achieve such good speed? Dont count on phones or ipads or any tablet devices, cos these mobile devices will not be utilising the full potential of ac68u, and ac56u is enough..

iPhone 5s 100mbps.

Exactly. AC68U has theoretical 1300 mbps (AC) and 600mbps (N) = AC1900

1300mbps vs 150mbps. a bit overkill. hahas

ac56u has 300(N) and 867(AC) = AC1200
