To all the android experts out there, got a question.

I have a note 5, using about a year and a half i think. I initially bought a 128gb microsd card as i intended to upgrade to the note 7 last year but as everyone knows, the note 7 is now off the shelf. intending to get the S8 for now.

question is, i will be bringing my phone on an overseas trip and would like to take alot of pictures and videos. I did some googling and saw that there are OTG that is able to read microsd cards, so i can just put my 128gb microsd card in the OTG and plug to my note 5.

3 questions below

1) It does work simply this way right by plug and play?

2) While my OTG is plug into the Note 5, can the pictures or videos be automatically save directly to the OTG's microsd card?

3) Any recommended good OTG that supports microsd card and has a fast transfer rate? Not sure whats the best now for android phones. Usb 3 ? or are all OTG is on standard usb 2? Any one who have good recommendations do let me know thanks!

apologise for this "noob" question as i have lost touch with all the new gadgetry revolving android.

1) correct, plug and play for ordinary microsd adapters. But for OTG usb drives, proprietary app is needed to effectively transfer the data from phone to drive and vice versa.

2) no automatic saving, you need to manually shift the data over.

3) USB 2.0 is the current standard for note 5. i don't suggest a microsd adapter, an OTG drive is probably a better option.

I think should be able to. though my LG G pro on andorid 4.x.x cant allows me to do it due to the version not allow. so maybe u might want to test and see.

1) Yes.
2) Possible with the right camera app if it lets you choose a directory, but having a dongle sticking out is going to be irritating, so I don't advise that.
3) Haven't seen a USB 3.0 one yet.
