Hi there, I am considering to go to australia to take up a undergraduate degree in Australia but have no idea where to begin or what to do. My main questions are:

1. Is there any scholarship that i can apply for as i don't have the money or anyone to support me.

2. I only have o level, will i still be eligible to apply?

3. I heard that if i have IELTS with a band 6, they will accept , is it true?

Any help or advise will be much appreciated. Thanks

Scholarship only given to those good or extremely good in their studies.
Few are awarded each time, a hundred or so Singaporean go all love to see that free money. All JC or poly

Not good don’t look at scholarships
U should be looking at financial aid for those who can make it to uni but family very poor
Even so u need $$ for living. Uni don’t hand out $$, working to find possible but not day 1

O levels cannot go uni directly, need to go foundations

So for financial aid i need to find here in sg or from the university in australia? I don't need anyone to support me while i'm there as that i can manage but the fees i'll have problem since i noticed it's expensive. Thanks

What are your results? If it's extremely outstanding you may have a chance for overseas scholarships.

forget about uni. u no chance one. and btw sg & msia students don't require ielts.

i know a diploma friend holder scored below 2gpa but have to take 6-9months foundation (english, maths, chem, phys) here in aussie uni. and during the foundation u MUST score 65-75marks on average then allowed to take the course u want for 4years. 4year + 9months = almost 5years.

1year tuition fee and living expenses here is roughly 90k sgd.

5year say 450k sgd.

better for u to go poly route take diploma, score gpa minimum 3, then go aussie uni for 2year (50% credit exemptions).

or just go private uni in sg.

done.

Thanks for this info, yes i'm not worried about the cost of living there as i can work part time and i am also a freelance web developer and i'm aiming to get into the IT technology pathway. So by major i think it's the course i want to take i think.. so that would be IT Technology. I'm just trying to see if there is a cheaper option to study there(and not so much on studies there). I can buy a house there too, when or if i can get a PR there.

First of all, i am not sure if i am even eligible to study/apply. Thanks

O level not eligible for direct U entry for sure.
working part time and freelance job is base on the assumption U can find those jobs. loads of international students, jobs not easy to come by on day 1. study IT major, so much projects... will be coding into late nights.

if u felt you can secure part time job easy... look for tuition free country such as norway/finland... then with just Os, u don't quality. level up 1st

Ok i don't know who are you, but i am here to find a way to go to australia to become a pr. I earn around 100k per annum. I plan to sell my house which is fully paid which now is around 400+k IF i can get a pr. Stop accessing me how much i am worth or how i can support myself there. I'm not a child. Its as if you are taking to a child. I just am asking what it cost, if i am eligible etc. I am not those that go overseas to study on their parents money, let me make that clear for you.

If you know some info that can benefit me or others than please do share if not, i'm sure you have many other better things to do, i hope. And the reason why i want a scholorship? Because i do not want to waste my money paying the fees if i can avoid it.

P.s: i say again, don't access me how much i'm worth. You don't know me. keep your judgement to yourself.

if want pr, easy.

u go psb take aus uni engineering course (accredited by engineers Australia) . dip around 1.5year? and deg another 3year. best thing is aus will recognise your cert, u can even be PE there.

total 4.5year. course fee dip + deg about 50k ish. best part is u will still be in sg. no need worry about rent etc since u got your fully paid hdb. best part u still can continue do your web developing

grad liao go aus look for engineering jobs. and there u go u have your pr chance. engineering easier get pr there. if thats your goal.

imo this is your best choice provided u are willing to commit 4.5years of further education and do engineering jobs.

I assume the other guy who responded is your friend? Or you trying to support a fellow former? I have my own reasons why i want to move.I wasn't aware that it had something to do with how much i earned. I asked questions very politely. When someone replies like.. how you want to afford? short time you want to buy degree? You sleep 5-6 hours enough?

Come on friend.. no need to worry about my personal life. Maybe just focus on the the answering the questions would be more beneficial. Ego as big as elephant? Now lets see how you reply back to this message.. You think i'm emotionless just to keep quite when someone thinks he is the judge on this forum and can say whatever they like and i'm supposed to keep quite? maybe you missed it too.. but i only asked 3 questions. Didn't need someone to assess my wealth, health, etc thank you for your time.

Thank you for pointing me in a possible direction, i will consider this option. But i have some other issues so i want to move out or finding the fastest route to move there sooner. Since i don't have any solid education background, i am not scoring high enough for the points based system that Australia have to becoming a Pr. Also under the skill visa program, i am not qualified.

Fastest route is this if you thinking of going to Perth: http://www.taylorsperth.edu.au/our-courses/uwa-foundation-program

Entry requirements:
http://www.taylorsperth.edu.au/how-to-apply/entry-requirements

There are other foundation programmes but I will just quote on Perth, since the foundation programme system is generally similar to other states.

Going through the foundation programme helps you get to a 3yr degree pathway and the australian education system is a lot easier than sg.

I am not so sure if you can apply with an incomplete O levels, but I wouldn't really encourage the poly route as you have a chance of not doing well and end up wasting your time since sg education system is pretty hardcore. Know of a friend who is thinking of doing this programme as he didn't do so well for his poly.

Anyway,I am also thinking of going to Australia and might consider applying pr there later on.

Points requirement >> Got to fulfill 60 points

For Age, you get automatic 25 points. For overseas employment, you can get 10 points if you work up to 5 years in Sg but you got to provide documentation. You can get another 15 points if you do a 2yr trade-related IT diploma and take the IELTS test and get 10 points for a score of 7 or more.

Alternatively, you can try to apply for a job there and find employment over there, wait for a company to help you apply for visa.
