Hello guys!
I bought this "gaming" PC about 2 years ago, and due to me not researching properly, I went and bought this PC rashly. Now I cannot even play most games at High/Ultra settings and sometimes even Medium settings I got problem. I've been thinking of upgrading the GPU as it's a super crappy GT 630 only.

However, from some websites I see they say that the Acer Mobo will not recognise any other GPU other than the one it came with, which is the GT 630. Can anyone verify?

I doubt this as it should not be the case.

But do check your chassis allowances for the GPU and also the PSU wattages.

What do you mean by chassis allowances for GPU? The PSU Wattage is 500W as stated there when I open up the side panel..

Allowance means having enough room/spacing to fit in the new GPU. Like how you ain't gonna fit a GTX980 in a Jonsbo U2 casing

Its possible that their BIOS maintains a whitelist since their systems only have a few possible configuration of parts.

I have seen Acer desktops check for their originally configured parts at boot up and even refusing to boot if something is missing, eg Wireless card.

I think Bios whitelists are more commonly seen in laptops and only applies to wifi cards because LOLCertification requirements. TS should not run into issues installing a better GPU into his system.

If there is a need to bypass a Bios whitelist, may need to actually mod the Bios.

Its good that you know how to use google's search functions, but do process the information before regurgitating.

Uhh that's only on one of the systems I've seen so far, others will check and notify that component is missing but will still boot.

Pretty easy to tell actually, just plug out the graphic card and boot with on-board graphics if its available, if can boot means most likely can boot with 3rd party card.

If you really want to play it safe can simply bring your system down to the shop and request for them to test the graphic card can POST on your system before buying it.
