Question: Tuas Defense Squadron (MP Spec)

Hello all!

I got posted to TDS as an MP Spec. I am not posted as a Sea Soldier.

I cant really google what an MP Spec does in a Naval Base because I never assumed we were needed there as there are SSLs.

Can anyone shed some light as to what an MP Spec does in Tuas Naval Base?

I have heard of rumours from many of my coursemates but they never even heard of it before so I cant really take it for real. Hence Im hoping to get some proper info here. Do help me out!

Just to emphasisw, I am there as an MP, not a Sea Soldier Leader.

Not sure about tuas naval base, but in Nee Soon, there is a mp spec in the guardroom overseeing the exchanging pass and everything, their appointment is a guardroom spec

MP Spec can be posted in any camps, they will be stationed at the guard house.. but sucks to be posted to such an ulu 1

The camp is actually good for me coz i live in jurong west. But i think i go there wont be so relax be guardroom spec leh. Heard there need wear navy uniform one. Dunno i will do duty with ssl or not.

i think basically you will a MP spec managing a bunch of sea soldier (formerly known as RP) men.

Posted as an MP Spec, then you will be in charge of pass office; basically land side duties.

Any idea about the shifts if u have experiwnce there? I just got more info abt my posting and i was told to report to the BSC CSM on monday. Anyone know whats BSC and what they do?

bsc stand for base security company. basically everything concern with base security inlandwill fall under ur charge. u will close up as a guardcom with several men under you. as a guard com, u will report to the dso after officer hrs. life there is good compare to other camp.

as for wellfare, have you hear of not doing duty but have duty off

it depend if you are the spec posted to tds or attach to tds as additional manpower. best way to see if you are wearing green or grey is by the colour you wear when you grad from scs.

most if not all spec in tds have their vocation as mp.

I have never seen anyone MP in Olive Green uniform since my first day there. Except when a vessel returns from long voyage with Port Of Call and etc, these these people will make a special trip down and screen the entire vessel.

Else, even the guard personnel at the guard house will be wearing Navy Uniform, instead of the usual Green in the past.

And to answer TS's question, TDS covers a myriad scope of duties, just to name a few.

Guard house, basically exchange pass with hundreds of foreign worker workers. Yes. Hundreds!

Gantry, check vehicle. Basically, 9/10 are regulars.

Night prowling, yah. Prowling lor. Hold the gun walk the 2.4km base. Just nice.

IDK which you fall under. TBH, quite boring.
