currently i am running msi gtx 650ti boost 2gb and since my cpu or mobo died i decided to buy a new set for it. should i get a i3 4160 or a i5 4460 to prevent bottle neck? i use this comp mainly to play games and watch hd videos. games i play are like the triple a titles(gta 5 bf4) but i play them on medium setting normally and i intend to play future games in medium or high settings only. is there any recommendation for mobo also? Main things i need are usb 3 and 2 sata 6gb/s ports only

Actually if you wanna save money can still buy any lga1155 boards as 2nd gen i5s does not bottleneck any games currently. If cannot find then get a i5 4460 if you can afford since BF4 is quite cpu intensive.

hmmm... i think can still pm some of the distro reps see if they still have. sometimes they still do. but if really cannot find then replace it with a I5 4460+Asrock H81M-HDS ba

What happened to your rig that led you to deduce that your CPU and/or mobo is dead?

erm cant boot up at all. like no beep after clicking the power but all the fans and lights is on. i had the rams check and its alright then the hdd is fine when i connect to another comp the gpu also working on another comp. then the mobo has some lights going thru but the debug light is all off so i know its either the cpu or mobo alr lo

Got another com? Transplant the PSU from the other com to your i5 2400 rig and test if your rig can startup. Could also be PSU fault.

the other com the psu is built into the comp cannot be removed.
PSU built into the comp? :s11: What kind of comp is that? (PSUs, even if it uses a SFX or TFX form factor, are only secured by some screws at most, just that silm form factor PCs are more troublesome to dismantle.)

Can also consider bringing your PSU, CPU and mobo to PC Care & Solutions, #02-32, Sim Lim Square, and have Nigel test your parts and see what he say. Can also discuss possible repair/upgrade options with him as well.
