Hello HWZ.

I'm currently an NSF, and my vocation is a service security trooper, PES E.

I'm PES E because of a hereditary heart condition inherited from my parents, but it is completely harmless to me. I have seen my heart doctor who will write a report to SAF to allow me to up PES to B.

I have a few questions...

1) If I manage to up PES and sign on, am I able to sign on as an officer? I've always wanted to be an officer, and I've been planning it for years. Then I got PES E for something that doesn't even affect me :s11: the thing is, I have only O levels.

2) If I have only O levels, if I do up PES and recourse PES B BMT, will I be going for mono-intake or do I get to go to tekong?

3) I haven't done any physical training since......sec 2? Sec 3 onwards was just completely non-physical, for everything in my life. Do i need to be someone who exercises regularly in order to survive BMT? I really want to do it but......

well...

Thanks guys in advance :D

Good for you, up pes to sign on!

Sadly, with an 'O' Level certificate you will be unable to sign on as an officer, as minimum requirement is 'A' Lvls/Diploma.

What you could do is you could go to Poly, or do private A levels while waiting for your up pes to be processed. I had a squad mate who enlisted with a NITEC qualification, by the time he ORD, he had a 'O' level cert and was planning to take his a levels after ORD.

Real hardworking guy.

Sorry, can't answer any other questions, was from SPF.

"but it is completely harmless to me" did your doctor say this or you say this?

1) depends on whether you get into OCS?

"I got PES E for something that doesn't even affect me" did your doctor say this or you say this?

If you only got O Level then you most likely wouldn't be able to sign on as an officer through the most direct route

2) likely mono. At least that's my guess.

3) rather than answering that question, my question will be why do you want to sign on to be an officer?

hope u can really think about being an officer. It is a good aim to have your target fixed on that especially over the years but u will have to be realistic, given your medical condition, qualifications and age.

if is possible for you to go to OCS as long u have graduated from your p/t diploma. but I would just want to emphasis to you that u could think more about how will u be once u are inside as an officer.

without a degree, chances are u will only advance till the rank of LTA unless is a battlefield promotion (usually only during war times). siging-on will be more or less like a lifelong commitment and every year that is a thing called "ranking" which is similar to peer appraisal.

I would suggest that if u are to sign-on, go for combat/offensive roles such as guards.

sai or not up to u to believe. smoke or not u should know it urself if u know the system

n it is only a minority will get CPT by the way and has a good ranking.

no need to talk so much of a hokkien dialect here if u disagree with my comments. why not answer to what TS has asked and offer your view instead?

with reference to this post in 2009:
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/national-service-knowledge-base-162/diploma-officer-2494687-4.html

some people mentioned that there will be people who will push u if u are long enough in service, which was what i have mentioned about ranking.

i have come across many people who signed-on and break bond, regardless men, spec or ofr.. some from adf, sig etc.

how is it a joke? do have your inputs to the post if u have only jokes to say.

or are u saying that u yourself is the officer who got diploma and is a CPT now?

I am not, but i know of ppl who are now.

And besides, your words are so different from what my recruitment officers said in bmt and my officer friends in HR...

This is not true. You don't need a degree to be promoted to CPT. Officers without degree are also able to promote to CPT rank but it takes a longer time frame.

During my times, we often refer officer without degree as "LTC"...as in long term captain.

My OC last time belong to this group, As he is only a diploma holder, he kena stuck in capt rank for sibei long time.

He only promoted to Major rank after he got his degree.

First few years went back ICT and saw him again still a major, but toward the end of my ICT cycle, heard that he kena converted to S8, handling NS men matter for reservist unit.

good for you.

as u should have known. the progression will take a long time.

the question is, are these person first of all aware of the long period for the next promotion? If yes, are they really willing and being motivated to continue serving?

since u have mentioned u have friends from these areas, i am sure u have heard of people leaving the force too.
