I posted a question about MOBO replacement a few days ago (thx Nigel from PC Care and Solutions for your help), but now I'm back with another (unrelated) problem. (so sorry about that haha)
So what happened was that I was just turned off my game, and was just doing random surfing (soccernet etc) when suddenly my com became very very sluggish. I had problems opening files (IE they wouldnt open) and shutting down (I had to turn off the power directly).
Then later when I restart my com, it took VERY VERY LONG to load up (IE take 10 mins to even get to desktop). Then when at desktop, the icons and everything take very long to even load up, and the individual folders also took very long to even open. I can shut my com down normally, but it takes very very long. Essentially, I cannot do anything useful (useful = gaming rofl) on my desktop now.
I did some preliminary research, and all signs point to it being a possible HDD problem.
My questions:
1) What do you guys think? Is it a HDD problem? Should I even bother bringing my com down to SLS for troubleshooting or should I just get a new HDD and install myself?
2) My HDD is a Western Digital 1TB. (a) Is it known to be problematic? (b) I no longer have the documents that came with it (box etc), so can I still claim any warranty for it? (have the set for about 2.5 years already).
3) Which HDD would you guys recommend? (assuming I cannot claim warranty), and what is the rough cost?
