Hi all!

Leaving for japan in a month time, but some rail question still quite puzzle me..

I will be landing at NRT T1 @ 1400hrs on 1 April. From NRT T1 Airport, where to take the NEX to Shinagawa station where i will be transferring to shinkansen?

From Hyperdia website, i need to key in Nartia Airport T1 to Shinagawa right? The results doesn't have any NEX timing after 1400hrs.. makes me worry..

And i believed i need to activate my JR Pass first at NRT T1 before boarding the NEX to Shinagawa? And NEX requires reservation too right? If that's the case, can i do a reservation on both NEX/Shinkansen during my JR pass activation at NRT T1 after landed?

And where can i find the time table for NEX Express? I tried to search from JReast site but the time table not valid.. and what does the time table mean by | || this symbol?

From Shinagawa station, am i right to say that i will need to board the Shinkansen towards Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen line? Or should i stop at tokyo station instead to board Shinkansen?

TIA!

Try this

For eg. Narita Express 30 makes a stop at Shinagawa. The train carriages will then split towards Shinjuku and Yokohama at Tokyo station. When having the ticket confirmed at the JR East Ticket Station at Narita Airport, the ticket will print the assigned cabin and seat.

You can book all the Shinkansen tickets in advance at Narita Airport for your trip.

Hi,

Do you recommend me to stop over at Tokyo Station or Shinagawa for Shinkansen transfer?

I am planning to activate my JR Pass upon arrival at NRT.. because i want to maximize my JR pass for NEX, Shinkansen to Osaka, Osaka to Kyoto, and Kyoto back to Osaka as well as the metro operated by JR in Osaka.

Shinagawa should be easier to navigate than tokyo station.

Activation of your JR pass can be done via the JR office opposite Starbucks in Narita. U can book your shinkansen tickets together with the reservation of the NEX train. They will usually book the earliest available time for your trip down to Osaka.. make sure, u give yrself ample time to find your next departure platform.

I nearly always get lost at Tokyo station. So I'd advise u to avoid transferring at Tokyo station if you can.
It's better to transfer at Shinagawa station. Less walking and less chance of u getting lost.

Noted noted, thank you all!

I'm clearer now. I will stick Shinagawa instead of Tokyo Station.

Like what others have mentioned, Tokyo station is huge. You can get to Osaka from Shinagawa as well.

Not too sure if there's a metro in Osaka by JR. Unless you're talking about the Osaka Loop Line. The Osaka subway lines are not compatible with the JR Pass but the Osaka Loop line is. Hope that helps.

Hi!

That's what i'm planning to do. All my routes are planned according to Osaka Loop Line (JR) so i can save on additional transport and yet fully utilize my JR Pass.
