Quitting NTU or switch course?

Hi people, i m having dillema now between quitting NTU or switching course.
For your information i am enrolled in EEE year 2, i was previously come from poly IT course.
Due to the interest of networking and hardware stuff decided to study EEE, but after these few weeks realised that its just too difficult because its all not relevant.

So please advice on whether to hang on or switching the course to CE/CS? thanks. If transfer, what will happen? start next year? coz people all start already.

CE / CS is tougher than EEE, so I would ask you to reconsider.

As for relevance, it's the foundations that you are learning now. You'll probably learn things more related to your stream in the subsequent years...

follow ur heart, if that the course u realli want to move on to next lvl, do it... dont feel odd on switching course, i believe one guy in here also did it, switched from CE to EEE, chiu r not alone...

Haha I switch from SCE to EEE.
If you want networking and hardware stuff go get IT certification.
Uni wouldnt teach u

You are intererted in cryptography. Go buy a book and study yourself.
Go informatics or something and learn la.
No point studying so much in uni only for tt 1 module in yr 4 .

a lot of poly grad come local uni, within a sem already has the thought of quitting. Because they think they are very good in poly but come to uni, they cannot get the score they want and end up dejected. I seen a lot of such cases already.

well, u have to ask yourself that to what extend of hardware stuff you are interested in...

if you are interest is in touch & go kind of level, I would advise you to change course as EEE hardware is of no joke....

i have 3 options

1. stick to EEE and do the best out of it
2. change course to CE/CS and dont know how i will be doing
3. quit school, working and take part time degree followed by industry certifiation.

for option no. 3, will there be any stigma that an NTU undergrad quit and join private? what will be the value of the private degree? however, i do know that in IT line, its not about the degree you hold, but its by the relevant experience u r in the line, correct me if i m wrong.

Just to let you now CE/CS is also not as easy than EEEE. CE/CS also have math even till you are year 4 It would be wasted to quit because not to mentioned others, it really very difficult for locals especially poly students to admitted into local uni despite fighting the place with FT students.

I urge u to re-consider to quit NTU. The rest is up to u

p.s: I heard from my EEE friends that their moderation is ahem ahem so dun worry too much unless u really stuck up never study that kind then can't help you much

yes, i did study system security during poly days, cryptography whatsover...

You will only study 1 module of cryptography in yr 4 CE otherwise just program and program...

EEE is too much maths already... struggling like hell, just visited library website looking through the past year papers, even 3rd year modules also have lots of maths. only 4th year can study networking stuff. i have really made a wrong choice.

erm have u even look at their CE/CS examspaper then? Tell you a lot of the modules are actually teachiing the same stuff juz that are more indepth!!!!! Oh yes they are learning most of the stuff we learn in yr 2 in yr 1!!!

EEE more diverse more circuits to see!!!

I think in NTU, no matter which course you are in, its the same.. You go in to the lecture and blur blur..

The only difference perhaps in each course will be the people you meet and studying environment.. If you think EEE is stressful, i dun think other course will be better..

If you give up yr chance now, i am very sure 10 years down the road you will regret.. Experience is impt, but you need the ticket to have experience also..

The ticket = degree ..

okay guys, thanks for the input. i guess i will just stay on and try my best in doing the best out of it. i have to make myself realise that this is uni, not poly, hence the standart is trully different. anyway, HITMEN, what did u take previously, during poly? ECE or IT? or u from JC?

it's not only poly ppl will struggle, air lvl one will struggle also...

exactly. when i was in poly, it was like so easy to get As. but now the situation is totally different.

yes, this is uni (EPL aka BPL), not poly (S-league).

Hmm.. i think the challenge in SCE is to cope with the load for lab. Poly students usually have no problem in the labs, however, students from JC are better in the exam papers!
