R9 270X Black Screen Crash while Playing!

Hello. I'm having quite an issue here.

Just installed my brand new Gygabyte Windforce R9 270X 2GB, and I can't barely play for more than 20-45 minutes without a black screen. It has happened while playing BF4, TitanFall and Diablo3 (D3 went black screen at an hour and a half).

According to various PSU calculators, I need 430W minium; and I have plenty more than that. Is it possible the PSU is faulty, or the R9 270X is faulty?

Here are my specs:

Intel Core i7 3770 3.4Ghz -STOCK-
Corsair Hydro H80.
3 DDR3 Sticks for 12GB.
Gygabyte R9 270X 2GB.
1 M4 Crucial 128Gb SSD.
2 SATA Blue Caviar 1TB HDD.

Please help me, this is driving me nuts!

what's ur PSU, u didn't state. which graphics card were u using before u change to gigabyte r9 270x? had this issue before?

might be drivers issues like mine last time. i update to the latest beta drivers and no more issues with graphic distortions.

I have a Corsair CX600W 80 Bronze Plus.

GPU temps are between 65-75 ºC on 100% load on Furmark while the BurnIn 15min test. Also my CPU were at 50 ºC on max load. Been monitoring through HWmonitor and can't seem to find the problem! I even ran Furmark + Prime95 at the same time without problems.

I even underclocked 40mhz both gpu/memory as this helped someone at TomsHardware, but didn't work either. Checked my memory with memtest and didn't show any errors on the tests. I even reinstalled Win7 clean to see if it was a driver problem, but stil crashes appeared. This is with the stable drivers and also with beta drivers.

I have an old GTX660, when I plug it in; it works flawless. Never crashes or something! This is really driving me nuts.

Could it be the PSU? Its brand new! Or could it be the GPU instead?

Same thing happened to me when I bought the r280x. Only after changing a new batch of cards, no such problem. Seems like gigabyte got lousy chips from amd especially first batch. Msi r280x works perfect out of the box.

Problem is this:

Vendor sold me an Sapphire R9 270X which was dead on arrival. When I plugged it, after 10 seconds it would give a black screen. So I returned it; he tested it and was the same. So he didn't had any sapphires for change, so he gave me a Gygabyte.

Now I'm contacting him and he's like "there's gotta be a problem with your pc, impossible for 2 cards from different manufacturers to not work" U__U

I've been always updating my PC without problems, this is the first time im totally clueless.

What mobo u using? Try connecting to the 2nd pci-e x16 slot, to confirm if the 1st is damaged or not.

Might wanna also check on your mobo bios version.

Intel Dh77eb. Don't think it could be the PCI-eX slot damaged, because it simply would work with my GTX 660!

Possible to try on other pc first?

If the other pc fails then probably you still need to go back swap another unit.

Im gonna test it with another PSU 750W Corsair; and on another PC to check. Ill update if any new details appear.

Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti cards seem to have a similar issue. Maybe Gigabyte's quality control or cooler just isn't up to today's standards?

It's the problem with the card. I have experienced this twice with a new 270x. Do a Google search for r9 270x black screen see so many people get this problem with new cards. I was told by my dealer not to buy this but I was stubborn until it happened to me first hand. Try and go back shop or distro as for an exchange for other cards.

and reinstall back your drivers or better try this new beta...

Either Nvidia or Amd drivers, drivers always an issues. It takes time to mature or buggy somewhere....

seconded... rather u top up abit get a 280 or 280x
