Radeon RX550 still available ?

Any idea any shop still carry the Amd RX550 graphic,
preferable single slot design ?
Check my usual online shop, can only find Yeston (china).

This card should not bottleneck on Gen2 x16 slot rite ?

I believe most mid end cards can run on PCI-E 2.0 well. As it stands now, even the fastest consumer graphic card is not able to fully saturate PCI-E 3.0's bandwidth.

If i can find a adapter with 2 M.2 slot,
would both SSD run at full Gen3 speed ?

I am not sure about the specs of your computer, but if your graphic card is running on PCI-E Gen 2, your SSD is running on Gen 3? The SSDs generally benefit up to x4 speed if I am not mistaken. So if you slap the SSD on a Gen 3 x16 slot, I don't think it is a wise idea.

As to your second point, the M.2 adapter is generally x2 or x4 speed. If one is running full speed, it will affect the transfer rate of the other if I am not mistaken. But odds of you hitting both drives hard at the same time should be low.

M.2 SSD via adapter won't work as not only compatiblity
and you need the driver as well.

Just get a normal SATA SSD will do else you will run into
a issues.
Graphic card wise depends on the specs of PC, the RX550
is rather new running on PCI-E 3.0.

I'm using B450 MortarMax with Radeon R7-250 on PCIE_Slot 1 (Gen3x16). (Slot4 is Gen2x16)

Have 2 Samsung EvoPlus on M2_1 slot (G3) & the other on M2_2(G2 only).
Expecting to receive 1 Adata SX8200 soon. (on PCIE_Slot4)

With the current setup, only 1 of 3 SSD can run at Gen3 full speed.


If i get a single slot vga on PCIE_Slot4 (Gen2x16),
then i can install 2 SSD on PCIE_Slot1 via adapter.
I hope with this, all 3 SSD can run at full speed.

Using 3700X wi 2x HyperX2666MHz.
Dual boot Win7/Win10.

I already have a unbranded M2 Adapter (1 M2 slot).
Tested fine on Win7, only that it run at Gen2 speed as i install on PCIE_Slot4.

I think I may be off topic, but I feel you should consider giving priority to the SSD that is running your OS and frequently used apps/ games. Rest if they are just for storage, you don't have to worry about them running with lower bandwidth/ speed. There are limited bandwidth to go around on the board, so with your current config, I have doubts all 3 can run at full speed. Not that much of an expert in this, so leave the others to opine.

with AMD Ryzen 7 3700X.
For now install the Samsung SSD on the M.2 slot, don't use adapter
so it will run at full speed.

This M.2 drive will be OS, for storage wise just get SATA SSD.
Only OS boot time you would notice difference on M.2 slot.
Graphic wise depend whether are you gaming or not.

But since you are using 3700X rather invest in a geforce 1660 or so.

no single slot gtx 1660. Only 1 brand have gtx1650.. elsa but no where to be found locally

Yep... the SSD on M2_1 is my OS & some data.

For the other SSD, mostly my Hi-Res photo.
I want them to load aFASTap.

I dun game, no complain even with integrated vga.
Also dun like things with noisy fan.

Yeston is brand that nvr come to SG or nobody bring in like Dataland is actually powercolor in China.

I came to the conclusion that all 3 drives will not run at full speed because, (1) graphic card is taking up the top PCI-E 3.0 slot, and, (2) both M.2 slots on the board are taken up. I recollect that if you populate both M.2 slots, chances is that the bottom x16 slot may either run slower or become disabled due to the limited bandwidth.

If that is the case, then you need to prioritize which are the important drives that need to run full speed.

I actually feel 140 for a RX550 is not worth it. You can get a GTX 1050 TI below 200 bucks if I am not mistaken, that is quite a fair bit faster. At times, I can find GTX 1650 DDR5 4GB for 199 bucks on Qoo10.

I missed out on the requirement of a single slot cooling. I think it will be very rare nowadays. Perhaps something like a GT1030 will be single slot but a very weak GPU.

In order to run 3 SSD at full speed, i need to get a Single Slot VGA.
My current R7-250 is 1.5 slot thick, will obstruct the PSU when install on PCIE_Slot4.


M2_1 (Gen3x4) = Boot SSD
PCIE_Slot1 (Gen3x16) = 2x SSD via adapter
PCIE_Slot4 (Gen2x16) = Single Slot VGA

Theoretically, Gen3x16 should be able to support 4 SSD (Gen3x4),
If the card support PCI Express bifurcation.


Choose RX550 cause me a ATI fans since the DVD video days
Anything faster than RX550 in the Amd camp will have too complicated cooling. (noise)
It also support Win7.
