Hi guys i have a mobo Asus P7P55D-E (a 3-4 years ago mobo) and i would like to upgrade my ram, but i'm not sure if he newer rams are compaitable with my mobo. Any idea how to know if a ram is compaitable with a mobo? Am currently looking at Gskill 1600MHz DDR3 8GB Ram.My old ram is 4 GB and DDR3 as well.

If the ram is ddr3, it will work on a ddr3 capable board. One thing though, if you want, you can go to the brands website, search the board model, then look for a link for the supported memory & hope this will help you clear your doubt...

Play safe buy Crucial DDR3-1600 CL11 8GB. Best compatibility along with Kingston and G.Skill.

There is a slight chance of incompatibility issue.

That's why I said should mah :(

Other than that TS should also check that this board supports the frequency of the RAM he buys lor.

Dun be n00b like me last time, hoot 2133MHz RAM but the board only support up to 1600MHz only :s13:

That will depend on what you have now and going to mix with the new ram.

Memory Features

Dual-Channel DDR3 2200(O.C.) / 1600 / 1333 / 1066 support

The motherboard supports DDR3 memory that features data transfer rates of 2200(O.C.) / 1600 /1333 / 1066 MHz to meet the higher bandwidth requirements of the latest 3D graphics, multimedia, and Internet applications. The dual-channel DDR3 architecture enlarges the bandwidth of your system memory to boost system performance.

This measure is most applicable and safest for beginners and expertise.... ;)
