Am considering getting a Mac Mini. Read on Apple website that the RAM should be SO-DIMM PC3-12800 DDR3. I know there are several brands that sell RAM which are "compatible" with Apple. Which brand would you guys recommend?

I read online that some so called "poor quality" RAM may cause problems like kernel panics and application crashes. Would Kingston be safe? Or any "safer" brands? Thanks!

I guess Kingston shouldn't be a problem as my friend had been using it on his mini, if I remembered correctly.

As for myself, been using Kingston for all my macs even before they certified "Apple Compatible" and not run into any problem.

That said, it's really up to you to try ba, I might be lucky..;)

I would buy my memory from OWC but if you don't want to go that route make sure that any retailer you buy from guarantees that it's compatible. I've heard the latest minis are very user friendly. No more using a putty knife!!! :)

unless you are editing a 2 hour video, then maybe you will experience kernel panics... otherwise shouldn't be a problem. you go sim lim or challenger they tell you the same thing, use kingston. it's just a 'feel-good' to use the more expensive brands of ram. Very hard to feel the difference from different rams, unless you're benchmarking your software with your mac mini. else you could save your penny.

OWC or Crucial works.
I've got some Crucial late last year for my MM.

ever since the mac moved to the intel platform, the ram compatibility issue is greatly lessen.

kingston will work fine. if it doesn't, you can swap it for another brand. if you really worry, then just pay more for mac certified rams

you will only start to face problems again for newer machines becos the very new rams have different voltages from the older batch.
